Love Actually came to mind when viewing this movie. Unfortunately, it could not compare to the British beautifully woven tapestry that was Love Actually. Star studded for sure so where did it go wrong? The writing was probably reasonably scripted but perhaps there needed to be piecing together of the whole story so there were more connections and interactions. . The theme of love was obviously aimed for but it needed to tug the audience's heartstrings more in order to achieve that outcome. Were the actors given enough to work with? Maybe not! Some more surprises and intersecting of the characters may have helped. It is not a bad movie just disappointing when so many stars were in the movie but it failed to shine. Maybe look at the recipe used by the Brits!

New Year's Eve might not be a masterpiece but it's nowhere near as bad as i heard it was some actors actually gave some pretty nice performances like Hilary Swank, Robert De Niro, Sarah Jessica Parker and even Josh Duhamel the rest of the cast like Common, Jessica Biel, Halle Berry, Bon Jovi and more were pretty good too but no actor in this film gives an Oscar worthy performance and everyone knows what this film is about it's more about people who like this actors and like Christmas and New Year's Eve in general and i actually liked it a lot i don't think that it's a masterpiece i mean it's a bit silly like Zac Efron and Michelle Pfeiffer trying to be together and even certain characters that get a bit way crazy but other than that i think that this is a good film and i had a lot of fun watching it and if you're open minded and know what you're getting into you might not be disappointed. R.I.P Garry Marshall and a Happy New Year!!!
... View More'New Year's Eve', despite its mammoth ensemble cast, doesn't quite leave a mark. Its, at best, a fair watch, that has a few interesting moments. 'New Year's Eve' Synopsis: The lives of several couples & singles in New York intertwine over the course of New Year's Eve.Katherine Fugate's Screenplay is ambitious, but not very well-crafted. The vignettes laced in the narrative, range from ordinary to dull. The only vignette that holds appeal is the one called Elevator, which features Ashton Kutcher & Lea Michelle. Garry Marshall's Direction is decent. Cinematography is picture-perfect. Editing lacks sharpness. Art & Costume Design are alright.Performance-Wise: Of the ensemble cast, Its only Ashton Kutcher & Lea Michelle who deliver confident, likable performances. The rest of the cast lend adequate support. On the whole, 'New Year's Eve' is a so-so fare.
... View MoreLike Valentines day, this film follows the lives of really beautiful, successful people, and Robert De Niro, as they prepare, face, and reflect on their lives on New Years Eve, in good old New York, because everything is great there apparently...Marshall wants you to cry so much and like these people so much, you can almost see him in the corner if the screen shouting 'these are normal people, with problems just like you!! Like them, I order you too'.While the film isn't as offensive as Sex in the City, all versions, it's still pretty abhorrent to see beautiful people with perfect lives moan about really small things, and then lay on all the schmaltz come the end.Its a pretty impressive cast, but they are given very little to do other than read a really dull, sugar coated script out to each other, and look pretty.De Niro looks really embarrassed to be in this, and Elizondo pops up, as he always does in a Garry Marshall film, maybe he has photos of him or something.Come the end of the film, everybody gets what they want, people are nice to other people, and then its January the first, you wake up and realise that New Years Eve, the movie and the event, is just a big marketing ploy for you to spend lots of money, and be depressed for days after....
