Kristen Bell from Frozen stars as Beth in this clichéd romantic comedy released by Touchstone Pictures. She's an unlucky in love woman who's sister is about to get married in Rome. Here Beth meets a handsome man named Nicolas played by Josh Duhmel from Life As We Know It and she starts to like him. But when she sees him with another woman she gets drunk and goes into the love fountain where she picks up coins. But when she does do that strange things start to happen to her as the men that threw the coins and the chip into the love fountain are now CRAZY in love with her. But things get complicated when she meets Nick again and she has to wonder does he love her or is he under the spell too?Overall When In Rome isn't a bad flick. Is it good well sorta but not really. The acting was pretty much OK,Danny De Vito was funny as he was one of the men who was under the love spell and dropped a coin into the fountain, and Kristen Bell's real life husband Dax Shepard was in it too as a model guy.Bottom line if you love romantic comedies like me check it out. 5/10

Credit IMDb Beth is a hard working career woman whose last relationship says that she puts her work above him so he left her. When he tells her he found another career woman and is willing to stick it out with her and is engaged to her. Beth feels that there is no one for her. And when she goes to Rome to attend her sister's impromptu wedding and after meeting the best man, Nick she's attracted to him but after seeing him with another woman, she gets drunk and goes into the famed Fountain of Love and takes some coins thrown by people looking for love. When she goes back to New York four men start coming onto her. And Nick keeps calling her asking her out. She later learns that what she did--is a no no. It seems legend says that if you take a coins out of the fountain the person who threw it will fall in love with who took the coin. So she has to find a way to break the curse. And she wonders if Nick whom she likes is with her cause he wants to or is he under the spell.Really awful stuff here. The sad thing is I like Bell and Duhamel, but nothing here really benefits either of them. It lacked laughs, I didn't sense any heart too it, nor did it have any real characters that I liked.Bottom line. Terrible Romantic Comedy that adds nothing new to the genre. You are better off skipping this one.3/10

I saw this movie 3 months ago. it was so bad i can't get it out of my head. i am hoping to excise the demons by venting here. I can honestly say that it is one of the two worst movies I have EVER seen in my life, along with The Tailor of Panama. Skip this movie. It is difficult to know where to start. I do not have a problem with movie premises that ask you to suspend disbelief so as to make a basic tenant of the story line work. But i have a huge problem with being asked to suspend disbelief because the writers are too lazy to come up with plausible plot machinations. this movie does both. The acting is incredible inept. I was particularly put off by Will Arnett's turn as an improbably poorly cast Italian. Though Dax Sheppard, Jon Heder and Danny divito were equally poor choices who phoned in their performances. Editing was poor as it was at times difficult to know where the action was taking place, not that I cared. The "jokes" were not funny. The chemistry in this "romantic comedy" between the two leads was unbelievable. Actually not existent. just all around terrible...

This was a silly, stupid movie! Even compared to other romantic comedies. It was so stupid, that I felt embarrassed while I was watching it - despite of the fact that I was alone in the room! And I do not think that this was just because I am getting too old for romcoms either - because I can still enjoy really good romcoms, such as "A Touch of Mink" and "Four Weddings and a Funeral".Magic, presented as if it really exists, does not work for an adult audience in our day and age. It only makes the movie seem childish and ridiculous.Another thing: romcoms should be about wish fulfillment for women, but the leading male character simply is not attractive or spectacular enough for that. The reason I still give this movie two stars and not just one, is that it is at least shot on location in Rome, and shows some great scenery from there. The photo is very beautiful at some points, and you can see that a lot of money has been invested in clothes, props, extras etc..
