It's kinda funny but also so ridiculously bad on a very basic plot and character arch level. Amy Smart's character literally just behaves exactly how each scene dictates and it's not influenced by any scenes before and after that have happened to her. She likes him, hates him, keeps going out with him, hates him, doesn't like the other guy inexplicably. None of it matters at all.I know it really isn't supposed to matter that much in a movie like this but if the filmmakers can't even gets something that basic right what does that say about the rest of it? Nothing good, that's for sure. Anna Faris is enjoyable crazy as usual.

This basically serves as a vehicle for Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart, and as romantic comedies go, it's not too bad. Anna Ferris was terrific as a crazy pop star. Reynolds gets stranded in his New Jersey hometown during the holidays and runs into his old friends, including his high school crush, who spurned him right before they graduated high school. They start to reconnect. This has several laugh-out-loud scenes, including a bed scene, a great "he shoots, he scores" transition scene, a pickup hockey game, and a scene where they try to kiss on the ice. It's a pretty good "guilty pleasure" film with good chemistry between the stars.** 1/2 out of ****

As I scrolled down to my 1 star ratings and saw the other titles, I felt adding this to a rank with House of a Thousand Corpses and Seed of Chucky was a bit harsh. Regardless, I still felt the need to take a shower after watching this movie; however, let me tell you that the stink of bad movie does not wash off easily. The only thing that saved this from being 1 star was a fat suit, retainer-wearing Ryan Reynolds singing I Swear. During no other point in the 96 minutes of this cinematic torture tactic did I find this movie amusing, captivating or funny. Not only did it stick to the overly-predictable chick-flick formula that keeps you one step ahead of the writers, but I could not find myself able to relate to a single character on any one-dimensional level.Aside from the fact that every romance movie is (understandably) completely unrealistic, this one takes it a step further and adds a total realm of normalcy to what should absolutely be awkwardness from a 10 year long cold-shoulder. I will never think about this movie again--it has officially been filed with the rest of my regrets, even the regret where I was rejected by the fat boy with the tiny backpack when I asked him out in High School. Yeah, that really happened. In short, I hated this movie.

I usually quite like romantic comedies, as they are a nice light entertainment after a stressful workday. This movie, however, was not enjoyable at all. The jokes were so predictable, and what is worse, several times during this movie I caught myself thinking "This cannot possibly get any more stupid" but I was proved wrong every single time. May be it would be a nice entertainment after a few drinks but in any other situation I would not recommend this movie to anyone. Unless you really feel the urge to throw away two hours of your life. The only positive aspect about this movie was the good-looking female main character :)
