Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda are all married now, but they're still up for a little fun in the sun. When Samantha gets the chance to visit one of the most extravagant vacation destinations on the planet and offers to bring them all along, they surmise that a women-only retreat may be the perfect excuse to eschew their responsibilities and remember what life was like before they decided to settle down.

I saw this last night and couldn't believe my ears and eyes. You'd be hardpressed to find a more offensive piece of garbage in the last 10 years. I always thought the 4 women (with the possible exception of Miranda) were just drag queens fantasies from a (very messed up) gay man's mind - this film really confirms that. These are not real people, much less real women, but they do make sense as drag queen cartoons. What's sad is it looks like all the actresses were either told (or told themselves) that they had to have "work" done, and unfortunately, the camera does not lie. Don't get me started on the hideous idea of sending the four cartoons to Abu Dhabi so they can give the finger to everyone there and join in eternal sisterhood with local women who are more into western fashion than they are. I think SJP and Michael whatshisface - and yes, the whole cast - should be sent to hard labor for this crime against humanity. Lessons learned: Carrie should not kiss other men other than her husband. Miranda can find another job which allows her to watch her child win 1st prize at school. Samantha can continue to end each film screaming in orgasm b/c her reason for living is to have sex and scream about it. Charlotte need not fire her bra-less nanny b/c - what luck!- turns out she is lesbian so her husband will be less likely to succeed at having an affair with her. Is it any wonder we are so despised around the planet?

I am a big fan of SATC. I started watching the show when season 1 was on HBO, and I bought every single season on DVD. Although I did not love the first movie, I thought it was watchable.SATC 2 is something should never been made. I just don't know what happened (or not have happened) to the girls, so many years after the end of the TV series. It seemed like there is just nothing left to be told about them anymore. The girls are older, and yet seeming even more immature than before. The jokes are nowhere near what the TV series offered. This movie was just trying to milk on everything. And the fifth major character of SATC! OMG the CITY! The writer dared moved the story out of NYC and immediately the charm has turned way down. The fish out of water formula was not played well. Things turn a little bit offensive at times.True fans of SATC, it's OK to stay away from this one to save your fond memories of the show. It's a nightmare. A good example of illustrating when something good should be left that way. SATC is ruined by this movie.

First of all, the Sex and The City franchise has ALWAYS been known not to be realistic ~ four wealthy NYC women who are always in each other's lives who never have a boring moment for a nanosecond. If they're not sleeping with a gorgeous guy, they're sipping cosmopolitans, eating at a high-end restaurant, shopping at Gucci, or doing SOMETHING that is flat-out entertaining. Every single TV episode was like that, as was the first film. Obviously, this movie sequel is just that, and then some. This movie is pure escapism; nothing more, nothing less. It's not meant to be taken seriously! The 4 characters who lead ultra-extravagant lives get an all-expense paid trip to a middle- eastern country and are treated like royalty, complete with their own floor at a 5-star hotel, their own butler (who can only leave when dismissed) and their own chauffeur. That's pure fantasy, every girl's dream to be a princess.Samantha's character, as always, delivers the funniest lines/situations in the film. When she's caught having sex on the beach, gets arrested, and the girls eventually have to leave for the airport, a woman dressed in middle-eastern attire shoos the girls into a secret room, where other middle-eastern women are hiding. And what do they reveal? The latest fashion from the USA.Many people didn't like this movie because it's not the least bit realistic. Again I say: the Sex & The City TV show and BOTH the first movie are simply the daydreams of every American girl.If you want a movie that will make you laugh and take you away from your everyday life for 2 hours, then this is the movie for you.

Riding the popularity of the 2008 movie, 'Sex And The City 2' boldly dares to continue a story that was well and truly ended twice. The first full-length feature justified its existence with the genuinely plausible next phase of Carrie and company's lives; the sequel, bravely, came forward with the tried and tested adage that girls just really want have to fun. Where its predecessor was an often sombre affair, number two revels in enough hedonism to make up for the previous lack of it.Finally and happily married, Carrie has settled in to her life with Mr. Big as her friends have to their own commitments; Miranda and Charlotte have also settled into their unions, while Samantha is finally serving herself alone, just how she likes it. This is the sequel's main stumbling block, that the characters have faced nearly every relationship ache imaginable. Therefore, their individual conflicts they face in 'Sex And The City 2' - heavy chested nannies and irritating bosses - are so trivial that the unfolding drama sadly reverts the characters into exaggerated caricatures of their former selves.Courageously switching the main location from New York City to the Middle Eastern culture of Abu Dhabi, the film is similar to several episodes from the show that staged the girl's exploits elsewhere; New York City, however, was a major character in itself, one that isn't easily replaced by a holiday destination that offers endless opportunities for escapades which sadly, hardly ever occur. There is still plenty of heart and emotion, but long term fans unfortunately begin to feel like they can't root for their favourite characters anymore, as they are written in a manner that actually portrays them in the negative light that critics have long ascribed to them. Clashing their New York sass against the culture of the Middle East is a clever, though often uncomfortable concept as the film tackles racism like no other franchise - forever considering equal opportunities - could. There is much to enjoy about 'Sex And The City 2', such as its intricate wardrobe and lavish setting; when the most positive aspects of the movie are aesthetics, however, it is hard not to realise that the sequel is a somewhat vacant affair. It does contrast the heavy tone of the first movie well, making it an excellent companion piece, though with such shallow character conflicts, it tarnishes the resolution and conclusion of the 2008 feature. Therefore, audiences are left itching for a third and final film not to satisfy their lust for more 'Sex And The City', but to regain a sense of closure.
