Choppy editing, vomit inducing camera moves, zooms for no reason and this is just the actors talking. Speaking of actors, Jet looks like he wants to be anywhere but in this movie and after 20 minutes, I felt the same way.Tourrets filmmaking at its finest!

Having already faced each other in fun sci-fi actioner The One (2001), Jason Statham and Jet Li went head-to-head once more (before eventually fighting side-by-side in The Expendables) in this 2007 action flick from director Philip G. Atwell. But as Edwin Starr once sang, 'War, what is it good for? Absolutely nothing'. And Eddie was right on the money, 'cos War isn't even good for a 100+ minutes of mindlessly violent entertainment, the film wasting the talents of both of its stars with a tedious story-line and poorly handled action sequences, all accompanied by a horribly generic soundtrack.Statham plays tough cop Crawford, who is determined to catch Rogue (Li), the yakuza assassin responsible for the murder of his partner. This pedestrian plot offers up very few surprises, at least until its closing moments when it throws in a completely implausible twist that even M. Night Shyalaman would have consigned to the waste bin. Rapid editing and horrible camera-work turn every potentially exciting action scene into a mess of blurry visuals, with a high speed car chase being the worst example, no shot lasting for more than a second (trying to keep track of the vehicles is impossible). The expected spectacular showdown between the two stars never really occurs—in fact, neither star is really called upon to show what they are capable of, with Li's legendary martial arts skills given almost no screen-time.

Before The Expendables, Jason Statham and Jet Li appeared in The War. Statham plays a dedicated cop whose Chinese heritage partner has been killed and he has been highly strung since then.Statham is looking for The Rogue (Li) the assassin hired by gangsters to kill his partner. Meanwhile Rogue is back in LA working for rival gangs and playing one off against the other. The film has actually more than a run of the mill action setting. The presence of Li adds bite to the film as well as some good martial arts sequences. Statham is the determined cop after Li but there seems to be more to them than a shared enmity. The film tries to develop layers to its plotting to add some depth and motive, it even adds a kick to the gut to add some unpredictability to the formula.
