Employee of the Month (2006): Dir: Greg Coolidge / Cast: Dane Cook, Jessica Simpson, Dax Shepard, Efren Ramirez, Andy Dick: Potential idea about reputation that is reduced to one big absurd mess. Supermarket becomes a great location but under better direction it could have served broader purpose. Dane Cook plays a box boy in constant competition with head cashier and seventeen month top employee Dax Shepard over the affection of new cashier Jessica Simpson. Starts out dumb and only gets dumber right up to its totally lame outcome. Director Greg Coolidge does a half ass job but then again, a little fun with the location might have added some appeal. Cook plays an unsympathetic lout who will obviously grow to care for this girl more than viewers will care for this sh*t film. Shepard overacts constantly as this moron overachiever who obviously has low expectations for himself. Simpson is simply eye candy. Efren Ramirez plays Shepard's dense sidekick who exists to get verbally abused and used as a verbal ashtray by Shepard. Andy Dick is featured to remind viewers that he was funnier providing the voice of the bunny in Hoodwinked. Every bit as lame as that other supermarket comedy waste, Career Opportunities, with just about as few laughs as this idiotic example. Its celebrity promotion proves to be as lazy as its hero is initially, and dies quickly. Score: 2 / 10

I start out by giving a round of applause (preferably to his face) to Efren Ramirez, Bravoooooo he does a great job of dissing his own kind, way to go com-padre.He should get an Oscar for his acting, I hope Mel Gibson gives him the part of Judah in The Revenge of Christ II.Saying that this is a cliché is a understatement. The scene where the Nazi breaks into the main character's house was my favorite part, there Mexicans are dissed to follow right after the dissing of PuertoRicans. I couldn't continue watching after that, it was too obnoxious. If you have respect for society do not watch this!

Saw this at a preview and wish I had turned down the free tickets. The jokes are terrible and in my opinion Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook have no business being in a movie. I think Dane Cook's comedy albums are okay but he is just awful as an "actor", and Jessica Simpson's lack of acting ability is already well known. Why is she still in movies? Oh right, she has a pretty face and huge bosom and is willing to wear teeny-tiny little outfits. Seriously though, if you're looking for anything that requires actual acting talent this isn't the movie for you. Andy Dick is pretty good in his small role but I still only cracked a couple smiles through the entire boring, pointless movie. Please Hollywood drop Jessica Simpson and Dane Cook off at the nearest dump, isn't their 15 minutes up yet?

This is one smart film, full of parody and satire. The largely un-celebrated cast add to the low brow, laid back mood expertly created by director Coolidge. Accolades are shared equally amongst a talented cast who rarely put a foot wrong. The secret to being funny is not to appear to be trying hard, and that is where this movie scores high. Special mention goes to Efren Ramirez, whose trademark understated performance effortlessly steals many a scene.A story that could easily have been set in any one of a dozen glamorous and untouchable occupations, is inspirationally transferred to an environment that is familiar to most viewers, immediately making them feel at ease with the characters. Attention to detail in every scene provides for a polished, slick piece of film making that, if it addressed more "serious" issues, would be worthy of an Oscar. This is the sort of movie you can watch over and over because it is professionally made and treats the audience with respect.
