First of all, the lead, Peter Krause is great. I'm a huge "Six Feet Under" fan, but that's neither here nor there. Julianna Margulies, who I would never expect to see in something this esoteric and weird, it's also very good as the supporting actress. They simply need more tv like this, even tho it's a decade plus old at the time of this review, it still holds up. If you enjoy solid sci fi parallel reality/dimension world building and mind bending metaphysical mystery, this is definitely for you. I know that is not everyone's cup of tea, however if it is this is MUST SEE for any science fiction fan whether you're more on the casual side or the deeper viewer. This is truly one of the best mini series I've ever watched. There's not much else to say and it's pointless to talk about the plot, honestly I would recommend going in knowing as absolute little as humanly possible. I was fortunate enough to do that and I was absolutely enthralled from beginning to end. Just bring an open mind and prepare to have it blown. Everything from the pacing(which I find to be a hugely under rated film/tv attribute, especially in a mini series) to the cinematography is damn near impeccable. My only complaint about this show is that there wasn't a sequel! 10/10 would watch again.....and again and again and again. This makes me wanna see Peter Krause docmore sci fi!! Now having said all that, realize that this is not The Godfather, and makes no attempt to be anything more than what it is. Don't go in looking to pick it apart from a siskel and ebert kinda romp. Anything can be dissected that way, and it kinda defeats the purpose of losing ourselves in film.
... View MoreDO NOT READ MY REVIEW IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE SERIES TO THE END!!!! From the start it became clear the people who wrote this must've been trying to fight being religious and scientific, which in one way was interesting, but because The Event, which the WHOLE series is based around is never explained it ends up killing the whole show. We have no clue about why the objects do what they do, and with how the show ended with a cliff-hanger of sorts it left far too many questions and not enough answers. Like what happened to Ruber or Miller...shame. Maybe they had thought they were gonna have the option to do a full series or another mini series and it didn't happen. In the end i feel like I wasted a lot of time.
... View MoreWhen I first started watching The Lost Room I really didn't think I would like it, but after the first half an hour I was hooked and couldn't stop watching it. I think overall everything was really good but there were some things that I did not like about the miniseries. For the people they picked for the actors and actresses I think they did a good job. To me all the actors and actresses were really good and they all really played out their character. Especially Joe Miller (Peter Krause) when his daughter disappeared through Room 10 he was going to do anything and everything to get his little girl back. Also I really liked how they added a couple characters, Wally Jabrowski (Peter Jacobson) and Harold Stritzke (Ewen Bremner) in the show to give the audience a good laugh. All the characters in this show really brought out the miniseries though.I was happy with the story but there were some things that I did not like. I really liked where they went with it everything just fitted together. One thing that I really didn't like was the ending. They could have gone on so much longer with the miniseries, it was a cliffhanger. They could have gone and explained what all the objects do or find out what they did. That was one thing that I was disappointed about is that we don't know what all the objects do. Only the choice few that was important to get Joe Miller's daughter back. Also at the end when Joe finally did get his daughter out of Room 10 they could have went and had Anna Miller (Elle Fanning) explain where she actually went and all the things she seen. Also whatever happened to Dr. Ruber (Dennis Christopher) no one knows. Did he continue searching for the objects with The Order or did he just stop? Another thing that really got me was at the end when Joe put the Hotel Room 10 Key in the room, shut the door, and then opened it again it was gone, but right before the series ended it showed the room key still laying on the floor.Overall though I really loved this miniseries, everything was amazing it all fit together and it just wasn't thrown together it was really planned out. I would really love to see this show come back and continue with a series.
