The action is great, and the women are easy to look at! Half of the guest stars either did porn, or Playboy "spreads". BUT, it's like Adam is running a boarding school. The men on the team act like sex driven 16 year olds, and the women act like little 12 year old girls, dreaming about true love. If any one gets close to a guest star, all logic is out the window, and they do whatever their "true love" asks, and screw the team! This happens over and over.......ad nauseam!

Bad TV falls in to two categories: so bad it's good, and just bad. This invented a third one: so bad it makes bad TV look brilliant. Imagine the X Men, but give most of the mutants useless powers that they don't use effectively. Now throw in terrible effects; wooden acting; dismal dialogue; amateurish direction; an editor who appeared to want to use every wipe, fade, and transition that his edit suite had available; poor cinematography; and cheap sets, and you've still got something better than this tepid stool-water.The fight scenes are obviously meant to be a dramatic and balletic, full of slow-mo and wire-work, but sadly the fight choreography fails to deliver, the actors are unable to convincingly throw a punch, and the ensuing shambles makes Power Rangers look like high art. Outside of the action things are no better; the scripts are dire, failing both in terms of plot and pacing, and what passes for each episode's story is so predictable as to be painful. As each instalment lurches towards its inevitable conclusion one can only wonder how this got past episode 1, never mind surviving three seasons. The only reason I've not given it a lower score is that the music has a certain something...Oh, and as a final note, for some reason the Big Bad appears to be an Andy Warhol impersonator.

There are worse series and movies than this, but Mutant X didn't miss the "absolutely awful" mark by much. The problem of this series isn't shoddy camera work or crappy writing (although those two sure didn't help), but the penultimate inability of the actors to actually act! Yes, maybe I shouldn't get so worked up about some TV series that got canceled after three seasons, but someone somewhere is responsible for casting these actors, and none of them even managed to get past the two-facial-expressions-per-episode stage.Example #1: Victoria Pratt (Shalimar Fox - what a name. She's supposed to be some catlike being, and her last name is that of a canine.) Expression #1: Blank face. I suppose she must have been thinking "nobody's gonna look at my face with the body I have". Expression #2: Pursed lip smile. You know, real actresses can actually make this one work (Angelina Jolie, anyone?), but it takes a bit of exercise.Example #2: John Shea (Adam Kane - this name, only given after Fox's lawsuit, is actually better than Adam Xero, which sounds a lot like a brand of recycled paper) Expression #1: ARGH-Must-Concentrate! No wonder he has so many wrinkles. I've seen him use this expression in a number of movies. It almost never fails to carry the message across: Why did I become an actor? With this face alone, I could win Sumo championships! Expression #2: Relieved Smile. Must have been one helluva visit to the restrooms for him to look that smug. Now, I agree that right after the person responsible for casting is severely chastised, it's the turn of whoever came up with the costumes. I agree that the Bad Guy does look awfully reminiscent of Andy Warhol. And "Very Evil Lines (TM)" don't help to improve his image, when I consistently get the impression that he is looking to the left of whomever he is currently speaking to, as if he was reading his lines off a billboard.Yes, for about half an episode, this show manages to exude some kind of comic charm. After about 20 minutes, however, you cannot help but begin to think that the actors and story writers are actually trying to be earnest. If you have ever, at all, sometime in your life, read even a single issue of the Xmen (or, seen one of the admittedly somewhat disappointing movies, or been lucky enough to catch the cartoon series on TV), then you will probably agree that even the worst Xmen story "pwns" the living daylights out of this show. Yes. I know Avi Arad is at least partially to blame for this show. But for all the good he did in assisting with the cartoon series and the slightly disappointing movies (TM), he's still gonna get it for this one.Angel at the Entrance to Heaven: So, who have we here? Avi Arad: Avi Arad. Angel: Ah, yes. You helped 207 elderly ladies across the street, rescued three children from drowning, gave half your income to charity, saved a small African nation from bankruptcy - OH! What have we here?! You created the TV series Mutant X? Straight down it is for you, fella! Good riddance! No, I'm not bitter. I'm just really sad about the time I spent watching this series (gladly, only 3 episodes). Time I will never get back (and might later on come to miss). My advice: Stay away from this. There are much better series on TV and down the Sci/Fi DVD aisles at your local store. If you really really REALLY want a superhero/mutant series, get the original Xmen cartoon series, or try a peek at the Xmen Evolution series, if for nothing else, then to see Rogue as a confused, conflicted Goth teen.

ah, mutantx created by avi arad. arab is one of the producers behind other marvel hits like "spiderman the movie" , "the hulk" and upcoming hits like "ironman". mutantx is obviously modeled after "x-men" and the characters in this series are obviously inspired from the same comic. it doesnt quite have the depth as the comic, but the show has gradually gotten better, effects wise and script wise.it's been on for 3 season since 2001, however, a couple of script changes have hampered the show (like the elimination of emma, the supposed death of adam cain, the elimination of eckhart), it's hard to say where exactly the show is headed and what the status of the show is, but mutantx is good cheesy fun with signs of brilliance.storyjust like "x-men", the mutants are in what's called "sanctuary" where they train their mutant abilities and used to track the activities of the criminal organization known as genomex.the mutants are led by adam cain (john shea), a scientist who had research mutant genes but the genes produced disastrous effects and bad mutants like gabriel ashlocke. at first as shown in the first 2 seasons we see adam as the good guy, a scientist working for the better of mind, however in the last season, we saw that adam cain had a hidden agenda. he created the mutants genes not so much to better mankind but for his own big ego. the episode in last season revealved that mason eckhart (tom mccamus) and adam worked together for genomex. when the mutants found out, they obviously didn't have the same relationship with adam, he was not trustworthy anymore.so lets read about the mutants themselves:forbes march plays jesse kilmari who can "phase" his body through metal, often coming in handy bypassing security locks and high security clearances.Victoria Pratt is Shalimar Fox, a mutant like Wolverine who can smell enemies and kill them with her ferocious attacks.Lauren Lee Smith was Emma DeLauro the strong telepath, the writers decided to kill of her character last season in somewhat of a disappointing cliffhanger. Her death wasn't received well.Victor Webster is Brennan Mulray, who can harvest electricity and use it as a weapon similiar in a way to Strom from X-Men except he uses electricity.Karen Cliche is Lexa Pierce (replacing Lauren Smith), a character that can teleport from one place to the other, obviously a copycat of "NightCrawler" from X-MEN.So whats the status of the show? This season Mason Eckhart was killed at the hands of Brennan Mulray, Adam Caine thought dead is not, however , he seems to be playing games with his former home of Sanctuary. He pops out as a holographic image , offers advice then disspears. Emma DeLauro was written of in a very cheap way, enter Lexa Pierce who joined the team although like Adam, Lexa Pierce seems to have her own agenda.Genomex has now been closed down, so a new organization called "The Dominion" is now running things and causing problems.Lexa Pierce seems to be a friend of "The Dominion" and there seems to be a cat and mouse game there.Several storylines have repeated themselves, the Mutants encountered a telepath from last season trying to kill them. A stream of killer locusts was set loose. A virus targeting mutants went into the wild, and from the last 2 episodes we have gotten a deeper background into the characters of Lexa, Brennan and Jesse.Jesse seems to like Lexa, however, seems to be the type of girl who plays with guy's emotions. Shalimar and Brenna have their doubts on Lexa, which is growing as their brief communications with Adam Caine hint. That's about it, the season isn't over yet and it's anyone's guess how it will end, next week's episode is All New involving the kidnapping of Jesse Kilmari's grandfather.Avi Arad has developed quite a fun and interesting show, despite it being a ripped of X-Men however "MutantX" has enough going for it for a recommendation. The action scenes are pretty good showcasing martial arts mixed with special effects, and the stories seem to get better every next so watch it.
