First off, let me say I read the book by Stephen King, AND I saw the original movie with Christopher Walken. Book gets a 10, Walken movie gets a 9, this series gets a 7 bordering on 8, totally due to shortcomings in the continuity and plot resolution. WARNING SPOILERS FOLLOW: For one, I see no excuse for replacing the actor who played JJ in the final season of only 13 episodes. I also see ZERO reason for killing off Walt. And perhaps WORST of all, the last episode titled DENOUEMENT provides anything BUT resolution, leaving the ultimate question of the series as to "How will Johnny avert Armageddon?" totally up in the air. This series reminds me of the XFILES in that it truly SHINES when it serves up an independent episode with its own inherent plot rather than meandering down the soap opera of conspiracy and Armageddon which becomes increasingly convoluted as the seasons progress. There are several episodes in the series which I would give a ZERO if I could, most notably the series FINALE which resolves NOTHING, and the idiotic episode where the US government uses Johnny to fight terrorists, and the obligatory major yawn of a boxing episode. But thankfully there are MORE episodes which deserve a 10 in their own right, than there are duds. I give a special tip of the hat to ANTHONY MICHAEL HALL who truly shines as Johnny. At the beginning I thought it might be difficult to get the image of that elephant lamp out of my head from THE BREAKFAST CLUB, but Mr. Hall proved he has range as an actor. Also a much appreciated bonus in the eye candy category when Jennifer Finnegan shows up as an occasional guest star starting in Season 4. THE DEAD ZONE is another example of a show which ended far too soon. Truly an IDEAL premise for a TV series. I will NEVER begin to understand how NFL football can be around until the end of time but a great series like this only runs for 6 seasons, and only half seasons at that.

This is a great Show, it is based on stephen king's book which is great because usually Stephen king adaptions work out great! The acting was decent and the special effects were nice, and the story was entertaining, but I will have to agree with other reviewers and say that the story started to get a bit dull during the 4th and 5th seasons, but after the events of season 5, the story picks up big time after Walt dies.I mean wow! what a ride season 6 was, but I was very disappointed to find out that The Dead Zone was canceled after season 7, which means that mostly likely, all these questions that are left unanswered, and this great story that was really starting to get interesting, will never be answered or given a proper conclusion. I'd really like to know if John has what it takes to stop Armageddon from happening, and what role JJ would play since he now has visions just like his father does now. It's really sad browsing through netflix, finding a great shows like this one that is really interesting/good, only to find out that the show wasn't, and probably never will be, concluded. I hope that one day this show can be picked up and finished in the future, but I won't get my hopes up

The Dead Zone was one of my favorite Stephen King books, and I liked David Cronenberg's film. So I was delighted to find that the characters and ideas had been re-worked into a TV series with high production values, good scripts and acting. The first two seasons held me spellbound. I watched them on DVD, so I was able to see them in widescreen with the best picture and sound. By the time I got into the third season, though, my interest was starting to fade. I was glad that the love triangle had been resolved so we could move on to something else. Unfortunately, there hasn't been much of an ongoing plot line to replace it.I've watched the first couple of episodes of Season 4, and I have to say, the last one was downright boring. No show can hit on all thrusters all the time, but Dead Zone just isn't holding my interest. I'm not sure why, but I think it's because the characters haven't changed very much. Johnny is still the same guy he was at the beginning. The supporting cast, ditto. What the show needs to revitalize it is an arc that expands on some of the "future" plot at the end of Season 3, or some major changes in the characters.Perhaps I'm missing something by not continuing with it, but with limited time and hundreds of films and shows I want to see, this one is on the back burner for now. It's a shame --- for a while it was one of the best shows on TV.

The first two seasons of "The Dead Zone" was a delight too watch.Great acting and some spot-on writing makes this interesting with both suspense and comedy. I hope the show doesn´t slip during it´s the 3rd season, judging from the first episode there is no signs of that happening. This is the best American Sci/Fi I have seen in a long time (including the overrated "X-Files"). This is, in fact, the best since the great show "American Gothic" unforgivably was cancelled after just one season. Let´s hope that this show has a few good years in it yet.
