Movie: Venghai Rating: 4/5I love watching movies from South, especially Tamil and Telugu. Venghai is also a nice movie and I had a great time watching it. I liked everything in this movie- Good hero, Excellent heroine, good comedy and action, and a perfect story-screenplay.Venghai is a rural action drama film which appeals to all, mostly masses. The film's story is very well and appealing. The father and son relationship is well established in this film. Dhanush is excellent in his performance and does well in the action scenes, comedy scenes, dramatic scenes, and dances as well. Tamannaah is beautiful and cute as always. I loved watching her in such a look. Her performance was mind blowing! Karuppu's comedy....just a laugh riot! One may hardly stop laughing! Others like Rajkiran and Prakashraj are decent. The music is good. I liked the song Orey Oru the most.On the whole, Venghai is a great mass entertainer that can be watched without any regrets. Go for it!
... View MoreHari is an enigma who invariably follows up a hit movie with a dud . This time also its not different ,after that super duper hit "Singham" he has made this largely forgettable "Vengai". Its a tiring watch having seen such a movie umpteen times in the past , many from Hari himself. Story is routine tit for tat game of cat and mouse between the good & the evil which follows a predictable screenplay . Movie sticks strictly to the Tamil-masala action movie template religiously following each tenets . Right from the first few scenes which has the villain trying to create havoc , Hero out-thinking that & emerging victorious followed by a mass opening songs with lyrics praising the holy traits of the hero.......it's a BIG YAWN. Dhanush has lost track after his critically acclaimed & award-winning performance in "Aadukalam" by doing pathetic movies like "Mapillai" & this one. Thamanna unlike her recent movies has scope to perform which she has utilized well. Rajkiran is getting typecast & it is tedious to see him in the usual "Oor periya manusar" role again & again. Prakashraj's character is yet another poorly etched one which he tries to salvage to some extent by putting into use his "Gilli"ish antics.Kanja Karuppu's comedy track is the most irritating track one has seen in a long time.Vetri's cinematography has nothing much to rave about while DeviSriPrasad's music is poor with none of the songs registering in one's mind.On the whole ,"Vengai" is a routine village action fare with bloodshed- sentiment-romance on the lines of "Thamirabarani" which tests one's patience to an large extent.Bottomline : Tedious
... View MoreAs usual, a voilent "aruva" (sickle) Hari movie. Enjoy watching the movie. Comedies aren't good. Never mind. They aren't important for these type of movies. To say about Dhanush - His usual job. Nothing different in this movie. Tammana - Looks pretty :) Rajkiran - Everyouth ;) Prakash Raj - A typical village villain but non sense. A little about story, This guy, Rajkiran, is the lord for Pandian village @ Sivagangai. Like a king. With his help, Prakash Raj becomes M.L.A. PR's attempts to loot govt money gets spoiled every time by our lord. One day PR gets caught red-handed. Lord slaps him in front of Tashildar office @ Trichy, obviously crowded area. On the other hand, Dhanush succeeds in holding hands with Tammana for two three songs.. Then the plot involves PR coming up with good plans to kill lord & his son. Dhanush keeps breaking them and reverting them back. It goes on interesting with some cool twists n all. You can spend 2:28 hrs joyfully.. Not exactly, but at least 2 hrs.. :)
... View MoreVenghai movie is a family movie with comedy, sentiment and love.Dhanush acting is very nice.Prakashraj scenes are very nice to watch.Kanja karuppu starring as Comedian.Tamanna is the heroin.Love scenes are not too best. The main story is based with hero Dhanush and his father Rajkiran. This story is based on a role between Father and Son.This movie is total of Comedy,Action,Love,Sentiments, little Political lines. What does Dhanush do in between both? Draw a peace agreement? Nope, but fight with machete for his part and show some overt intelligence. Raj Kiran displays Marlon Brondo's intelligence against his Al Pacino son Dhanush in a scene. Father send Dhanush on a hideout to Sicily (Trichy) where meet a girl (Tamanna).Vengai is the Dhanush starrer, directed by Hari with Tamanna in the female lead, produced by B Bharathi reddy for Vijaya Productions. Wonder if audiences must be allowed to tear seats, theater screens, etc., if they come across poor quality entertainers - like the hero shattering set properties into pieces. The money paid by the audiences could be used to mend the theater afterwards. The director may also compensate, only when will directors like Hari quit films, if he has nothing new to flaunt.
