Enjoyable comedy that will have you smiling often and make you laugh out loud once or twice. Not the first James Bond comedy rip off and won't be the last either the possibilities are too fertile. There have been better parodies though - David Niven for one.Comparisons with Rowan Atkinson's other creations are unavoidable. In this movie our hero is played like the Black Adder of Season one. At times a wibbling oinker but at others insightful and ingenious. He manages to mess his own plans up every time yet still gets to be in the right place at the right time. He drives really well but accidentally presses the eject button at the most inopportune moment - you get the idea. It isn't Mr Bean. Not a must-see movie but if it comes on you can put the remote down and relax.

Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is an incompetent British Intelligence agent. A bomb explodes at the funeral of Agent One killing the whole intelligence force leaving English as the only surviving agent. There is a plot to steal the Crown Jewels. English is to protect the Jewels but he is distracted by Lorna Campbell (Natalie Imbruglia). He and sidekick Angus Bough (Ben Miller) investigate and place the heist at the feet of Frenchman Pascal Edward Sauvage (John Malkovich).I just didn't laugh. Part of it is probably my love of Mr. Bean. It's weird to see Atkinson speaking normally. There are some attempts at fun slapstick action but none of it rates higher than a chuckle. Imbruglia adds no more than a oddly pretty girl. Broad slapstick spoof is something that requires special skills which I'm not sure director Peter Howitt has. Without Atkinson, this would be a complete train wreck.

It looks like James Bond turns upside down as Rowan Atkinson stars in this spy spoof where England's intelligence agency becomes under attack, leaving the confident but blundering Johnny English (Atkinson) the only spy agent to save his country from a villainous despot. Filmed with fast-paced action and endless gags and humor, this film will surely entertain you from start to finish. Singer Natalie Imbruilia portrays Johnny English's partner-in-crime and they made a great team together; their chemistry is just hilarious. And, John Malkovich makes a fitting villain for the movie. The shower scene where Johnny dances to ABBA's "Does Your Mother Know" was one of, I think, the most memorable scenes - gives a hilarious new perspective view of the song!Overall, a very entertaining film and, like all spoofs, not to be taken seriously. But, it's filmed in a way that is tastefully done and not overbearingly stupid. Grade B

Johnny English is not the most intelligent movie ever made in the world and certainly not the greatest comedy film of the century. Though when you look at parody films Jonny English has to be the best one ever.Atkinson proves his skill of acting again which he has done before in other shows like the famous Mr bean. Other actors also have done their parts well. All the scenes of the movie that showed Atkinson in it produced either smiles or made you jump from your seats. Though many of the scenes are a bit unintelligent, it still created hum. In short Johnny English is a great Parody and should be watched by all viewers in the world.I hope the sequel is also great. If you haven't watched it yet then all I can say is go bu the DVD or borrow it. I give it a 8.
