MunichAnother one of Speilberg's factual feature where the audience feels like encountering series of news and information delivered to them for more than 160 minutes with few high pitched dramatic and action sequences installed to hold the audience in this overlong journey. Steven Speilberg delivers without a doubt some good drama and dinner table conversations that speaks a lot about the character's bonding than the journey itself does. Eric Bana is convincingly good (especially the first time when he talks to his daughter on phone) and is supported with a great cast like Daniel Craig and Ciaran Hinds. Munich is an essential one but certainly isn't an entertaining one for the timeline and the subjective part of it overpowers the drama and the characters involved in it.

There are basically three types of movies, ones which simply entertain in its running time, ones which fail to achieve that objective and ones which stay with you long after it is over. This certainly is in the third category. A chilling tale of Munich Olympic killings and the eliminations of its perpetrators aftermath, this movie drives home a point or two. The conversations between Avner and Ali and then again of Avner and Carl bring forward those arguments while the agents go about the pursuit of their targets. Despite its length, the movie is thoroughly engaging with top-notch performances from all, but hard to not mention of Mathieu Amalric and Ciarán Hinds in their respective roles. Tension was acutely palpable in the assassination scenes; and as a viewer, one would experience the journey they go through hunting down their targets and could relate to their resolve being weakened and fatigued as they go from one part of the globe to other to complete their mission and getting hunted themselves. Spielberg's take on Operation Wrath of God is dark, realistic and gripping to say the least. The infusion of the Godfather-like character of Papa to the story may have been an improvisation in the script but that much liberty can be given to this great director. Nothing less than 8/10 for this Spielberg masterpiece.

I couldn't feel it to be a typical Spielberg movie.Munich massacre and it's subsequent events have been shown in detail but there are some points which are left open.Movie shows psyche of people who are involved in so many killings.i felt events like this are best described in documentaries as it is difficult to fit the entire incident in a 2 hour movie.

I don't usually write reviews on IMDb.com but after seeing this, I felt compelled to so here goes. It isn't often that I come across films like this or watch them but when I do I do enjoy it immensely. Coming from Steven Spielberg, I really expected a CGI fest or some sort of other "wow" factor. Well label me as surprised because I can honestly say that I think that this was the first Spielberg film that I would call a truly adult film: not adult as in "top of the shelf adult" (you dirty minders...you know who you are) but as an adult story. Non of the directors usual sentimentality or divulging into simplistic child like fantasy here. Based on the true story of the Black September aftermath, this film was a slow build up of tension and when it was at its peak, it threw in more tension. Yes I was bored through some of the scenes but the boredom (for me anyway) added to the tension and mood. It has been a long time since I've seen a film in which the emotions of the characters carry the film like this and I found it refreshing to see. The assassinations/murders as they happen are quick, brutal and downright shocking. Even if the viewer is clued up on the history of Black September...it still is a nail biting ride. A thinking mans film that answers some questions and leaves the viewer to ask some questions. Recommended.
