To that I mean, because the film could have been interesting since its idea, that of defending freedom of expression and not for that to be against freedom is great. But what a pity he gets out of hand and does not know how to take it.Spoiler: Why do I say that he does not know how to take it? Because, for my taste, none of the moments of the singer come to mind. They only delay the movie. Maybe because it lasts only an hour and a half, I wanted to lengthen it, I do not know. The beginning with everyone speaking in mute, what's the use? The truth is that I have become eternal and only lasts what lasts. That if I like it, not everything is good in that company, because, why are not couples allowed? Lack of freedom. With such a good idea, however, for my taste the script is slow and poorly run. He will have good dialogues, he has them, but it is not well written. Not to say directed, I will not say that I plan bad, no, it is worse. With seated characters, it has nothing of staging and nevertheless, I imagine that to give him speed, he makes planes cutting heads. Some actors, who are all very well, cut them off or do not focus when speaking. The photograph that if it is very beautiful and manages to narrate a time. Like the costumes and makeup, they are fine as well as art. But these parts can not prevent me from watching the film and thinking, that this is not progressing, that I have many things left.

In Good Night and Good Luck, George Clooney really gets to show us his versatility in the Seventh Art. He wears many hats here, serving as Director, Co-author and co-star of this gripping and chilling film. It is a thoroughly engrossing "Truth is stranger than fiction" story (my favorite cinema genre!) of the persecution of alleged communists by certain powerful elements within the government of the United States in the early 50s. GOOD NIGHT won two well deserved Oscars….Highlighting and reminding all of us that, "Those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it" ...I certainly think this is the operative phrase today, considering the myriad of illegal, unconstitutional surveillance and intrusions, put in place during the recent BUSH presidency, monitoring the conversations of its citizens to "ensure our national safety!". Definitely a must see film for anyone and everyone who is interested in our modern history. 10*....ENJOY!/DISFRUTELA! Any comments, questions or observations, in English o en Español, are most welcome!

Good Night, and Good Luck starts off with Sig Mickelson (Jeff Daniels) telling a group of people about the career of Edward R Murrow (David Strathairn). Shortly after this Murrow comes up and tells these people about the importance of television in educating and informing the public of major economic of political events. The film then goes back to 1954 when Murrow and his friend and producer Fred Friendly (George Clooney) and the rest of his news team sough to bring down Joseph McCarthy and his communist witch hunt. I love this film for a number of reasons. I love Murrow and I think that Strathairn does an excellent job in the role. He looks and sounds very much like Murrow. The film is shot in black and white and it just looks beautiful. The cinematography by Robert Elswit is fantastic. I give it an A+ there. I also commend this film for it's great and dramatic showcase of Murrow's famous political attacks on McCarthy. Strathairn recounts several lines used by Murrow on his program and he just does a stellar job with it. Whenever Strathairn speaks in a scene where he recites Murrow you're just drawn in to his words. And this once again is due to the may the film is shot. Clooney did a great job here with his second directorial effort. At the end scene when Friendly walks up to Murrow and tells him that McCarthy is to be censured by the US Senate it's not a moment when you get up and cheer. It's a moment where you are just left with a satisfying feeling as is Murrow. I highly recommend it. Good Night, and Good Luck.

Perhaps the only Valid Criticism of this Near Perfect Movie is that it could have been Longer. The Setting and Place, the Impact and the Fallout, the Timeless Resonance and Importance of Director/Writer/Star George Clooney's Look Back at Edward R. Murrow and His "Outing" of Sen. Joe McCarthy and His Bullying, and the Devastating Effect His Communist Witch Hunt Unleashed on Innocent People is so Complicated and Intertwining that its Short Running Time is a Frustrating Teasing of Events. It is Nothing if not a Launching Pad for Newbies to the "Red Scare" and can Inspire those that are Interested and Willing. But it is the Behemoth of Behavior Among the Media, Politicians, and for that matter, Anyone Alive at the Time because All were Affected and in some Way or another Involved.Clooney's Little Movie is Big on a very Short Time Span. About a Two Week Period of Murrow's and CBS's Decision to Editorialize and Confront McCarthy, not so Much for His Interest in Exposing Communists, but for the Sleazy and Terrorizing Tactics that were Used to Make almost Anyone a Suspect. The Movie is Virtually Flawless in the Snapshot it Takes on this Flash of Television Journalism and is an Insider's View on Murrow, TV News, and the Networks Role as Entertainers/Sponsor Subservient/Businesses. A Magnificent Minimalist Production with an Outstanding Cast from Top to Bottom with David Strathairn's Absolute Embodiment of Edward R. Murrow.
