The Land Before time is a personal favorite of mine. It has such a sad story, but still manages to put that spark of hope into our hearts even when times are rough. It is that kind of children's film which excels in teaching important life lessons without stating it by hammering it in. Like friendship is a matter of letting go of your pride once in a while. You can even read a subtle message about racism into Littlefoot and Cera's fights. And that is why I love it. It is simply a piece of art with a message and a story to tell. Dark and scary at times, yes, but it is alright to be afraid and sad, it is life. Yes, there are some real sadness and unnerving moments which you definitely feel deep inside, but that makes the reward of finding The Great Valley just the more rewarding. James Horner's musical score is just amazing, so atmospheric and haunting. Waaay better than those lighthearted song and dance musical numbers of the countless sequels to this masterpiece. Okay, I know most people hate all those unnecessary sequels and they are definitely sub-par to this work of art, but I honestly don't hate them, because most of them teach life lessons, too. I honestly did want to see Littlefoot and his friends' adventures in The great Valley, but maybe a TV-series would have sufficed. Honestly, I have seen more offensive sequels than the ones of The Land Before Time.

The Land Before Time was one of my favorite movies growing up, and it still is. The magic of this timeless adventure never gets old and when I watch it, it brings back a lot of memories. This movie (and Jurassic Park) is what got me to love dinosaurs in the first place. This story comes from the minds of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg and I have to say it is one of their greatest cartoon movies that I have ever seen. The story is about a young brontosaurus who's family is traveling to a paradise on earth known as the great valley, but trouble comes when a "Sharp tooth" or Tyrannosaurus Rex attacks, injures his mother, and she eventually dies. Now alone, Little Foot as he is known journeys on his own and eventually runs into Cera a Triceratops, Ducky a duck billed dinosaur, Spike a Stegosaurus, and Petry Pteranodon. Together they journey and have there ups and downs but eventually become good friends. And Together they defeat Sharp Tooth and make it to the great valley. This childhood classic will never get old for me and no matter how old I get I will continue to watch it. And hopefully I can share it with my own children someday. It's a good movie and a good story, kids might get frightened with Sharp Tooth as the film makes him out to be kind of scary, but all in all it's a good story that teaches life lessons of not giving up, friendship, having to not always be right and making mistakes, and having hope for the future. I consider this Lucas's and Spielberg's greatest Kids film, the part where Little Foot loses his mother is heartbreaking and one of the most sad parts of the film. But The Land Before Time is a fun adventure that you will not only love but your kids will love. 10/10 for The Land Before Time

"Land before time" is the most beautiful animated feature of hand-drawn animation history. The characters are excellently drawn, the story is great and the voice cast is wonderful. Though it is rated G, it does contain some really scary moments. The death of Littlefoot's mother is so touching, that I nearly cried. The feature should be awarded an Oscar for the Best Animated Feature and an Oscar for the Best Song: "If we hold on together".In conclusion, this movie is as almost as good as "Snow White and the seven dwarfs".Children of ages 7+ should see it.

This movie is very short at just over an hour long and it is a shame that a lot of bits that were deemed too 'violent' were edited out of it. Another bad thing that stopped me giving it a 10/10 was that the continuity wasn't great in a part which had obviously been edited. It has wonderful animation though, and the score is just beautiful, the plot is great and you will cry if you are lucky. There is a lot of character development considering how short the movie is and it can be interpreted in different ways. I personally believe that the plot of the movie was slightly different before it was edited, possibly having more death. One of the main themes of the movie is that if you stick together with friends and use your various talents, you can do anything and come through trials and tribulations easier than if you go alone. A must see for any child over 5.
