Before watching this I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Granted, it's not a work of art, but it's better than a lot of movies that are out there. The basic story revolves around Leigh Ann Watson getting caught by Mrs. Tingle with answers to an exam only less than a week away from graduation (and she has to get an A in Tingle's class to be valedictorian and get a scholarship). What Tingle doesn't realize is that her other student Luke was the one who made the copy of the answers and stuck it in there. So Leigh Ann, Luke, and Leigh Ann's best friend Jo Lynn go to Tingle's house to try to talk her into believing that it was not Leigh Ann that was cheating.Tingle thinks it will be "scandalous" and after a mishap involving an arrow almost killing Tingle, she is tied up and held hostage by the three teens for several days while they try to cover up their tracks and make sure that nobody finds out. Pretty much the next hour or so of the movie is in Tingle's house. She gets Jo Lynn and Leigh Ann to turn on each other by telling them fabricated stories from her past that revolve around both girls' attractions toward Luke. The ending was kind of corny, but most movie endings are anyway so I guess the writer(s) has my forgiveness for that. All in all, it was a pretty good watch. If you have a good hour and a half to kill, I would recommend this movie. It's not a bad movie, and even if you don't like the genre it does what a lot of movies can't do - entertain. It may not be the most believable movie ever, but overall I found it to be surprisingly good.

Leigh Ann Watson is a senior who is one point from being her class' valedictorian and from getting a scholarship to Harvard. That one thing in her way is her History teacher, Mrs. Tingle.Mrs. Tingle is the teacher of a cutthroat class, in which Leigh Ann is getting a "C" for. The school's outcast Luke snatches Tingle's upcoming test answers, and delivers it to Leigh Ann.Mrs. Tingle finds it in Leigh Ann's bag and reports it to the principal, who luckily isn't present. That night Leigh Ann, her friend Jo Lynn and Luke visit Mrs. Tingle's house to reason and confront her.The conversation ends in an accident. Leigh Ann and her friends clean up the place and carries Mrs. Tingles unconscious body to her bed and ties her up.She wakes up and the 3 students try and compromise.....TMT, or What Kevin did after Scream, is a brilliant comedy, come teen horror, come 'look, the Brit is the baddie again!!' that actually rarely loses it's step.Mirren though outclasses everybody who she shares screen time with, and although the rest of the cast are good, they are no match for he fair dame. The story is strong, and there are a few very funny moments, along with a few dark scenes. But the film does fall into Scream territory during the final act, chasing up stairs and people hiding behind doors, it ruins the feel of the overall product. The irony with Williamson is still there 'Molly Ringwald as a supply teacher? and her career is basically high school rom-cams? Sold!!!' is what he must have thought.I'm surprised that this did so badly, given the performance and the narrative. In one sense, it does feel a little like Woodsboro, and IKWYDLS, and thats probably why it failed back in 1999.But I urge you to see it, it's quite satisfying.

I was zapping until I saw Ms. Mirren's elegant face. Damn, this woman's hot! I think I missed about the first half hour but seeing the utter crap that this film is, I certainly haven't missed much. This is just another one of those trashy teen thrillers and the only good thing about it is (obviously) Helen Mirren. I loved the way she transforms from mean to vulnerable to manipulative. The character is not the best written character (then there's a whole lot wrong with the sloppy writing let alone inconsistency, plot holes and lack of characterization) but this woman pulls it off with brilliance. Katie Holmes is one of the most uninteresting actresses and she should just stick to that snoozefest soap 'Dawson's Creek' where she continues 'advising' her co-stars. Oh wait, that's been long cancelled, hasn't it? Barry Watson and Marisa Coughlan are equally pathetic. I'm sure the director and the writer hated their teachers which is why they want to teach the kids of today that it's alright to kidnap your teacher and beat her up, no matter how mean she is in class because that will surely get you an A.

This is a minor spoiler.I would have thought more highly of the film, but Mr. Williamson's mistake annoyed me. Witches weren't burned at Salem, they were hanged. Because of his ignorance, Leigh Ann wrote as if witches were burned there, which proved she hadn't done her research. Therefore, Mrs. Tingle actually had a genuine reason for downgrading Leigh Ann's history project. (Witch-burning did take place, but it was more a continental European atrocity.) Otherwise, the film was interesting. After all, haven't most of us known a person who abused his or her authority and been unjust?
