I feel the first thing I should mention in my user comments for this movie is that I am not a big fan of Batman - I haven't read the comics in years, and I only have a basic knowledge of the character of Batman and the other characters in the series. So I thought I might not understand what would go on in this movie. As it turned out, my basic knowledge was enough to make me understand everything that went on in this particular story. But while I found the story coherent, to some degree I was disappointed with it. The main problem I had was the whole father/son angle. It's hardly touched on at all. You would think that both father and son finding out all of a sudden that the other existed would lead to some interesting drama and character development, but that simply doesn't happen at all. The script seems more concerned with action than anything else. Now, some of the action is fairly well done, with some surprisingly violent moments that got my attention. (There is additional adult material that makes the movie probably unsuitable for younger children.) As for the animation, it is a little stiff and jerky at times, but it's well designed and catches your eye. In the end, the movie is kind of mediocre, best suited when you are in a really undemanding mood.

Writing from the perspective of an animation fan of not only western but also Japanese animation these other reviewers must have watched a different show.the animation. This movie in comparison to it predecessors is superior in so many respects. Not only is the quality of animation more fluid the camera work dynamic the fighting and action is clear. The movie has focus in all regards. The shot composition is refreshing making use of dynamic perspectives, symbolism and light. All which is none intrusive to the story flow. The animation style is refreshing an innovative as far as western animation is concerned and uses modern costume design as contrast. Batman looks supper bad-ass in almost every shot.story.The story is clear in direction and has perfect pacing, in the first few scenes establishing a world dynamic in physical ability and scale. The super human kind not as limited as many worlds batman is a part of. deflecting bullets with swords for example. This leads to a more interesting story in my opinion. With it beimg basically a origin story for the second robin and is a set up for the next film. taking from the universes already established characters. Batman is in this world a god, equating to his status as on par with superman.acting is perfectly fine, robins actor impressed me nothing stood out as bad. My Opinion.I enjoyed this film because of the intricate world building and crazy level of human power. It is unfiltered and on par with any other DC adaptation. How people are rating this film so poorly is almost beyond me. My only theory is western audiences aren't ready for heartless worlds to be animated. Such which equate to game of thrones in brutality and confuse people. Even then I'm surprised it got below 8.

... could have done. The execution, the voice acting is indeed below par in places. This is true. But I confess the story got to me. Usually any production that starts with the words "SON OF" is doomed. Literally. But the story hooked me so I tolerated the subpar production values and actually had a fairly good time.More than once I even wondered if somewhere out there was a producer who would find the cash to do this live action but given the audience expectations for a live action BATMAN, especially after Dark Knight, I guess that REALLY WOULD BE A FANTASY.

Okay adaptation of the Grant Morrison comic book story. Obviously they reworked it and changed some stuff (not for the better, as usual). As with most DCAU movies lately, the animation is unimpressive and the voicework is spotty. I can't stress enough how much I hate Jason O'Mara's Batman. Far too nasally. I miss Kevin Conroy. But the worst is Thomas Gibson as Deathstroke. The opening scene between Deathstroke and Ra's Al Ghul is like something out of a parody of '70s kung-fu movies, complete with over the top voices. Stuart Allan does the best job as Damian. This character is not surprisingly the best part of the movie. As with most of these DVD movies of late, they seem to have abandoned trying to reach an audience outside of the devoted comic book fan. I watched it with someone who knows nothing of Batman outside of the movies and I had to explain quite a bit of stuff that the script didn't bother with. For example, when Nightwing shows up, my friend was lost as to who he was and why he was there. The movie doesn't explain it, just tosses him in with the assumption the entire audience already knows his story and connection to Batman. Very sloppy and lazy but it's par for the course these days with DCAU. Anyway, despite my issues with it and it not being anything close to perfect, it's enjoyable and I was never bored. If you're a hardcore fanboy you'll probably love it. If you've never read the story this was based on, I would suggest you keep Wikipedia handy.
