Listen, I'm a sucker for films like this even if they are a bit Corny. I can often forgive a lot if they're at least entertaining. So often, I want nothing more than to just shut my brain off and watch something simple and goofy. RIPD falls into that exact category. The plot, premise and so much of the story in this is goofy but fun. The acting is a bit over-the-top but enjoyable. The score fits and it's shot well. The FXs are super cartoon and CGI, but work (think Men In Black) Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds have a good chemistry and Kevin Bacon works as the asshole I'm not saying this is a good film by any means. I also 100% understand why people don't or won't like it, but I find it enjoyable for what it is. For me, it harkens back to the Sword & Sorcery films of the 80's, same idea in on the enjoyability level. If you like these types of films, you'll probably enjoy this one and can take it for what it is. If that's not your cup of tea, then it's a good idea to skip this one.My Rating: 5/10

I gotta say, yes this movie has a weird and slightly cheesy premise, but this is totally a candy movie for me! I love when movies embrace their premise and all the actors really show that they embraced it as well. Jeff bridges and Ryan Reynolds have great chemistry and I laughed a lot during their interactions. The movie was exciting and funny and interesting in this unique idea - I really enjoyed it! Not every movie needs to be this profound, dramatic 'work of art', sometimes you just want to watch a fun movie with great acting and chemistry between actors and something unique that you haven't seen before - that's exactly what you get with this one. All in all, cheesy in parts, but definitely funny and interesting with great chemistry between all the actors. Definitely recommend this one!

RIPD has got to be the dumbest, stupidest, irreverent...did I say dumbest...and funny comedy I've seen in ages...It was never supposed to be a blockbuster, I don't think, but it is a respectable jaunt into the ridiculous fantasy world of life after death...with some weird zombie type monsters thrown in for flavor...some of the prat falls are truly bizarre, but they just add to the humorous nature of the "out there" story. Reynolds and Bridges are death cops of sorts, with the responsibility to keep the evil zombies from taking over the world...etcetera etcetera...Awww heck, take a chance and see this one...it really is a fun two hours...

Ready or not; you don't have to wait for it. This action comedy finds a police officer, Nick (Ryan Reynolds), beckoned back to action after recently being shot. Nick will join the R.I.P.D. (Rest In Peace Department), in hopes of finding out who really shot him. The R.I.P.D. basically hit the streets "taking out" guys who are actually dead hiding in a human body.Robert Schwentke directs this MEN IN BLACK knock-off. There is a toss-up in deciding which is better; the script or special effects. For sure this film is not boring. And redeeming is the fact that justice is dealt with. Criminals get what they deserve. No doubt about having a star-studded cast that also features: the always hilarious Jeff Bridges along with Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Mike O'Malley, James Hong, Marisa Miller and Stephanie Szostak.A catchy soundtrack features: Steely Dan, Marvin Gaye and The Hives.
