My Bloody Valentine is a 2009 horror film directed by Patrick Lussier, and written by numerous. Ten years after a bloody massacre that left 22 women, men and children dead, Tom returns to his hometown after witnessing the bloody attacks and almost being murdered himself. Upon his return, the same murders begin happening again, this time, targeting those that were present at the first massacre. Tom finds himself the prime suspect and must fight to prove his innocence. When I first saw this film advertised, back in 2009, I thought it was merely a rip off or a reboot of The Town That Dreaded Sundown (1976). I never put much thought into it other than that, and didn't pay much attention to it, until today after my soulmate recommended it to me. I decided that, even if it was a bad film, it was something to watch and do whilst I cleaned the house.Instead, I ended up stuck to the couch, staring at my screen and trying to figure out what was going on, trying to follow the leads and the clues given to us, and just left in total awe. There's a really good story line in this with twists; you think you know who the killer is and then you're thrown for a loop. There's so many different routes this could have taken, it was brilliant to watch. It was a real adrenaline pumper, and honestly, other than the crappy CGI, I would have happily bought this film.Unfortunately, after an amazing ending scene, we are left with nothing explained, and the film being left on a cliff hanger. Personally, this annoyed me. I had many ideas as to why what happened did happen, but there was no explanation to any of it. It left it open, possible for a sequel, but with the context of the film, no decent sequel could have really been done. This was a real mood killer for me, and extremely annoying. After a very good film, I was left frustrated and confused, and this really ruined the film for me. A simple ten minutes afterwards, doing a summary of everything that happened, would have really worked well for this. The acting in this film was really well done, and Jensen Ackles is definitely an actor I am interested in, after seeing this. There were a few of his scenes that seemed a little overdone, but I feel that was more the cinematography in itself, rather than Ackles' acting. Jaime King is also an actress I would love to have a look at in more detail. Her acting in this really helped sell the film, and bring a bigger horror feel to it. Her acting left me with goosebumps, and had my heart thumping, experiencing her own terror on screen with her. Both leads, male and female, were absolutely spectacular, and I would love to see them lead another horror film in the future.Personally, I wish I had gone to see this when I came out, and seen it in 3D like it was meant to be seen in. I feel like this might have made me love it a little more, and maybe it would have been seven stars, but seeing it in 2D was good enough, in all honesty.Again, the only thing really about this was the ending, and it frustrated me so much, a film that I was going to give nine stars, ended up a six star review. This was a really good film, but the director and editor should have really looked more at the ending. It felt like the ending was rushed after it all, and I've said it before, but it was the most aggravating thing. All in all, it's a decent film, and I would recommend it to gore and psychological horror lovers, just not if you're one of those fans that really need a good ending to a film.

Spoiler Alert!!! Now I typically hate horror remakes but this one has shocked me! I never ever thought a remake was actually better than the original. I saw the original and it was the most unforgiving, useless, unentertaining slasher movie I have ever seen in my life! I think the Prowler and Maniac is way better than it and those films seem just mediocre to me. This remake does have one thing I don't like and that's the fact it shows a girl completely naked. I mean this is a slasher movie I know but she is 100 percent naked. In slashers back in the 80's the worst you'd see is either the girls boobs or her rear but her you see it all! I mean here there's not even a real reason for it! It's the only thing I actually have a problem with in this decent remake other than that I liked the kills and the characters so it's an 7 out of 10.

My Bloody Valentine is directed by Patrick Lussier and collectively written by Zane Smith, Todd Farmer and John Beaird. It stars Jensen Ackles, Jaime King, Kerr Smith, Kevin Tighe and Tom Atkins. Music is by Michael Wandmacher and cinematography by Brian PearsonA remake of George Mihalker's 1981 slasher, the 2009 version was released in a blaze of 3D frenzy, where it absolutely coined it in at the World's box offices. It's not hard to see why, for no matter how much we may moan about remakes and the general languid nature of slashers turned out just for coin, there's a big market out there for them. As it happens this isn't half bad, oh it's all very familiar, there's another Michael Myers clone stalking the residents of some American town and offing them in gruesome ways. Here the perp is The Miner, dressed up in his work clothes, armed with a pick-axe, face covered by a gas mask that in turn makes him creepy looking and gives him Darth Vader breathing exercises to do.The mystery element is that this new series of murders are being re- enacted from crimes ten years previously, so is the old killer back from the dead, or is there a copycat at large? Enter troubled teenagers, townsfolk acting suspiciously and mucho blood and screaming sitting in tandem together. There's the requisite amount of nudity, including one of the longest nude scenes ever, while Lussier shows a good knack for blending humour with the terror. The 3D is of a high standard, and the sound mix is incredible, this really is one to give your sub-woofer a work out. It pans out as expected, but it manages to eek out good suspense for its finale and having Atkins and Tighe in the movie is a reassuring presence. The original was no great film anyway, and although this is better, it's still just a bunch of acting props being killed in different ways. But it is effective and above all else it's fun. 7/10

Another bigger, gorier, of the remakes. This one, having beautiful women, probably not as better actors, but it also has attribute, 3D. There's nothing like seeing pick axes fly off ya, or bullets ricocheting off your nose. We remain true to the original story with a couple of differences, one killer wise I think. As stumbling into the movie, ten minutes late, I had already missed some great over excessive gore. This movie delivers heavily on it, where judging by the original, you think to yourself, gees, how times change. It was Wolf Creek that set the new standard in cranked up visual violence. If it's a R rated horror, a high level violence warning is guaranteed. This horror works great as a truly great whodunit, let me tell you, it heightens it's quality. The movie had surpassed my expectations. This one keeps you in an indecision over two people, but then two or three other suspects appear, we're more irresolute, you'd go bonkers wracking your brain. The mine shots are great and claustrophobic. This one too, again marks the return of a couple of older actors, you know, they suddenly pop up, and you think to yourself, you're kidding me. The older Valentine doesn't deserve to be snubbed, as that is particularly good, also, but if you want a more cranked up, exciting version, this is it. In 3D of course.
