Mrs. Voorhees is dead, and Camp Crystal Lake is shut down, but a camp next to the infamous place is stalked by an unknown assailant. I was no fan of the original 'Friday the 13th' and 'Friday the 13th Part 2' was no different i'm afraid it was just as pointless and stupid as the original was. The acting was freaking terrible, the pointless nudity and sex scenes added nothing to the storyline plus the cheap kills and really dumb special effects made for an even worse film. Jason might be alive but this Friday the 13th? I'd suggest to not see this..
... View MoreWell, I have to hand it to them, this one captured my attention a lot more than the original film. While it's quite obvious they didn't necessarily plan it as much, the use of abstract craziness makes it a lot more watchable. I noticed in one scene, a woman's throat is cut with the back of the machete. That was funny, seeing as that side of a machete isn't sharp. There was also a weird scene where a woman is hiding from Jason under a bed, and begins urinating for..seemingly no reason other than the fact she sees a rat under the bed with her and may be frightened by it. I'm not a big fan of rats either, but to begin peeing on myself out of the blue seems a bit much. Overall though it was definitely a watchable and enjoyable movie. It makes me feel a bit better about watching the rest of these in the future.
... View MoreI'm currently binge watching the Friday 13th franchise as up until now I'd only ever seen the last two films. I was astounded how generic and lifeless the first movie was and this sequel isn't far off. Here in Jason Voorhees's debut before he finds his iconic mask he is remarkably bad. What I mean by that is he's a bumbling incompetent fool and a shell of what he is destined to become. A couple of scenes near the end of the film are almost comical because of how bad he is at being a killer. With mostly cutaway deaths, very thin storyline and little to set it apart from every other camp slasher film I'm starting to wonder how this franchise reached the pinnacle it did as I'm 2 films in and not impressed in the slightest. The Good: Follows directly on from the original Well cast The Bad:Jason really used to suck! Highly generic stuff Things I Learnt From This Movie: A person cannot say "Hey you guys" without me thinking of the Goonies Jason Voorhees weakness is his balls, who knew!?
... View MoreFor me, Friday the 13th part two is the best part of all. It combines a very creepy theme by Harry Manfredini -which, by the way, is in my opinion the best horror theme up to today - with violent killings and some good scares like Jason covered with a white sheet approaching his victim like a ghost, or trying to suddenly catch a victim thru the window glass. Also, the fact that they decided to show Jason's dwelling as gory as it was, is very original and creepy. And over all, it creates a chilling gory climate of suspense without being grotesque or showing the insides of the victims. Of course, up to today's standards, this movie would be seen like an almost naive flick, but it still remains kinda classy and slick thanks to the actors, the music and the director, Steve Miner. One of the most shocking scenes, for me as a teenager, was when Jason drives his spear thru a couple that had just had sex. That image stayed with me for a long time!R.I.P. Betsy Palmer
