I paid to rent this online... what a waste of 4 bucks. As a fan of creature flicks, I had hoped for better, based on the reviews. Well, once again it was proven that a decent IMDb rating means nothing. There's a supposedly random mixture of characters thrown into one room to make for an "exciting" and "unpredictable" team dynamic. The only problem is, there's the bozo, there's the tough guy, there's the waitress who wants to leave the hick town, etc., etc. So contrived and nothing you haven't seen 100x before. The movie tries too hard to be campy, with those characters making the usual "funny" remarks and jokes. Yawn. Example: when they kill the baby monster, the parent monsters go and "hump" in the parking lot to make a new one (which is born 10 seconds later of course - basic biology fail) setting off a car alarm. OH, SO FUNNY! Excuse me while I fall down to laugh! Zzzzzzz. Then there's the action. What's the point of a horror movie, if you're going to shake the camera violently every time there's some action on the screen? Seriously, I couldn't tell if they were just filming a blender in a bowl of tomatoes, or if they were actually trying to do something on the set. Totally pointless and stupid. Shaky cam is just a crutch for BAD film makers to hide their ineptitude. There, I said it. Oh, and what genius movie maker decided that it was best to make a big scary monster, but then cover it with rags for 80% of the movie? It's not until the very, very end that the coverings come off. Until then, the "scary" monsters look like homeless bums wearing a tarp and a cowboy hat.Don't waste your time on this.
... View MoreWhen I watched Feast I wasn't expecting a Comedy-Horror. So when I began to crack up laughing in the first ten minutes I was impressed about how effective the comedy was. The laughs do taper off and become more or less sex and fart jokes, but for the most part it is plain fun. It's a good movie which makes fun at all the horror clichés, but you can't help but feel that it's been done before, however, Feast does have some no holds bar gross-out laughs in it. Decent and better than expected. It's no Cabin In The Woods for being clever, but its cool comedy is something to be admired at. If you are going to watch this, it would be one of those late night with friends movies. Good, nothing much to it and fun as hell if you like gore and blood.
... View MoreJohn Culager has proved himself to be one of cinema's most creative directors. Arguably his most triumphant contribution to the horror genre and the one that is best remembered is Feast. Culagers's vision could not be artistically contained in only a single film and it soon became clear that only a trilogy would be adequate in order to express the gifted film maker's cinematic ambition. The result is nothing less than overwhelming. The first entry in this trilogy is a superb film, serving as an introduction to the entire saga as well as a stunning stand alone motion picture. With incredible suspense, unrelenting intensity, and profound horror, this is one of the finest horror films in the last decade. There is also wit and some humor in order to temper the terror and it is at times brilliant. An excellent cast creates characters of depth and humanity and it is perhaps the relationships between the individuals that are part of this film's greatest strength. Outstanding in the role of the bartender is Clu Culager, the director's father, an acclaimed veteran who gives one of his most beautifully realized performances in years. To experience the development of Culager's character over the course of the trilogy is truly extraordinary. It is essential that the Feast trilogy be seen in its entirety in order to appreciate this work in all its power and as the director intended it to be viewed. One will most likely find that viewing the first Feast film will capture the imagination to such a critical extent that immersion in the entire series of films will be unavoidable. The Feast films are indeed the most magnificent fulfillment of director Culager's cinematic vision to so far reach the screen. With this success and the associated critical acclaim, demand for his work will certainly not diminish.
... View MoreThis movie is just hilariously terrible and I am saying that in the best possible way. This movie is silly and stupid but it is a very entertaining ride. If you are a harsh critic and don't enjoy B movies don't watch this because you will think its garbage but it really is B movie gold. The acting is fair and the special effects and story line are so delectably cheesy. This movie is about a group of people in a bar who are suddenly attacked by a group of disgusting monsters. As you can tell by the description the movie is very simple but never the less it is a decent watch. If you have some beers some friends and some popcorn thise movie makes a perfect watch just to sit back and laugh at.
