FALL DOWN DEAD is a serial killer thriller made on a tiny budget which looks like that of a typical indie movie. The story is simplicity in itself, one of those single location films where a bunch of diverse characters are trapped in a building by a psychopath. This time around it's an office building with Udo Kier's sweaty murderer lurking around outside. Dominique Swain takes the lead and wonders what happened to her career, while David Carradine shows up as the world's oldest-looking security guard. The director throws in Hitchcock references and the like but not much of it sticks and it's all very derivative which makes it hard to get excited about.
... View More... truly terrible. Poor acting. Poor story. Unrealistic characters. I gave up about 3/4 of the way through the film. None of the characters seem to be like real people. None of them have realistic reactions to the situations that are thrown at them, therefore no suspense is created. The policeman who finds the janitor dead, then finds the cleaner and is more interested in chatting her up, than getting his gun out and protecting them. Why would the armed police lock themselves in the building, rather than getting outside and calling for help? How can the main female lead fight off the murderer, when he seems indestructible, later in the film? I'm truly surprised that a quality actor like Udo Kier stooped so low as to make this. This should have been straight to video - reduced bin. Don't bother.
... View MoreOrdinarily the editing of a movie doesn't stand out as much as it should, but in this case it is so well done that the transitions are hardly noticed and one scene blends wonderfully into the next. Editing is such an unnoticed talent, but I'll certainly be searching for movies that were edited by the staff on this movie in the future. The acting and the direction are also pretty decent in this movie, but it is the editing that really shines above everything else. Does anyone know who the editor was on this movie? If they had a better budget, there's no telling how good this movie would have turned out. Not many people have seen it as far as I know.
... View MoreI just saw it in the premiere here in Istanbul. The movie will come out in Turkey and Romania, it will probably go directly to the video in other countries. It's about a killer who is inspired by paintings and killing for art! Two cops and a few other people are trapped in a building to help him perform his art. The movie has a great cast and they are doing their best to keep the movie watchable, it has an OK story but it has very poor directing. The special effects and the sound effects are awful. The music also doesn't do any good. It worths a rent just for the great cast. If you don't like any of the actors in it, give it a miss.
