I guess it possible to do a 'spoiler' when it be like nothing makes much sense anyway... but that's what's good about it makes 0 sense starting off with these dippy TV people ... could hardly have a more emphatic warning how "it might be such a good idea" to go into the factory of like eybeall knife torture and knifeball eye torture and ... then they split up in to vulnerable little groups and then all these various kills are done basically in these rube goldberg ways that seem to all go wrong but then eventually each victim ends up somehow accidentally going the way of all evil flesh uh and the "showdown" is like back and forth like it's never gonna end it's like please one or both of you just stay down so the movie can finish! but I did like the "very" ending and... uh. well it would have been more fun to share it with someone or an audience, all the silliness... and the men could have been a lot more attractive I'll give it a 3 for ... for the scenes in which they lost the tripod an thus did omse weird kind of . . . stop action stuff .... it makes no sense but then that's why this is a good review. evidently um Oliver Stone says "a daring and grim thriller - reveals Japan's twisted sexual soul one terrifying scene after another." this has got to be an example of an American director doing like one of those Japanese commercials that the stars do on telly for soft drinks and the like?
... View MoreAfter having seen it for a second time I simply can say that ultimately this is nowhere the classic made out to be. Sure it starts out real well. Immediately reminding me of giallo movies only Japanese style. And honestly it had a lot of potential to indeed become a true horror classic. Only one mayor thing lacking. It never is really that thrilling. Evil dead trap relies on the gore in stead of tension. And while that in itself can work. Here it fails miserably. The gore is just not that impressive. It doesn't help that the main character and her colleagues have to be the most dumbest people even for a flick like this. Miyuki Ono is attractive though. You can't help but feel that she is asked to underplay which is such a shame since I do think that more could have come out of her performance.Do I need to say something about the ending. Well, yes. Because it is on the one hand pretty creative and on the other hand one of the most weirdest of endings you will see. Is this movie worth your time. No! I can't recommend this one. Cause apart from the words (of the English title) Evil Dead it is nothing like that it. Although it borrows some of the camera tricks used in the immensely superior Evil Dead series.Give this one a miss!

You get " Evil dead trap " , of course . And a pleasure to endure it , if you want to . I wanted , because I've read some reviews that described the ending of this glorious piece of Japanese horror cinema as good , brilliant , shocking ... I kinda hoped that the ending will make it at least semi - worthwhile for me .Too bad it never happened .My impressions : poorly directed , irritating , cheap sounding soundtrack , silly editing , a lot sillier story , not to mention an abundance of details that are nothing short of amazingly stupid ( members of the TV crew react as if they want to die or at least get hurt ) ... What's so good about this film I really don't know . It seems to have some sort of cult status . The porn stars look good , but ... I think it's maybe better to see them in their adult movies . This one is more suitable - at least that's my opinion - for elementary school . Elementary school of making bad , nonsensical horror .Only reason why I'm giving this 2 out of 10 : weird , mildly creepy atmosphere and hot girls . Two positive thing about this slimy Japanese movie fetus that can kill you with the overdose of stereotypes . That's enough for 2 .
... View MoreToshiharu Ikeda's violent 1988 slasher is an amazing film for those looking for gore. From the graphic killing in the opening to the bloody climax, this film entertains to no end. The camera work is similar to such luminaries as Sam Raimi and Lucio Fulci (It's all about the eye-gouging). With usage of colors and music similar to that of Dario Argento, Synapse Films has released a great DVD transfer of this film. So go out and grab it. Funny thing is, how I mentioned that the camera-work is similar to Sam Raimi's, who directed the fun, gore-packed romp, 'The Evil Dead (1981)'. And that this film is titled, 'Evil Dead Trap', coincidence? Who knows.
