If you can acclimatize to the consistent and unrelenting cascade of plot holes this is quite enjoyable. Forgo much of your logic and enjoy this microcosm of charterers in the small created world of the series.Normally something like this would not work and the inconsistencies in logic would distract to much. But the production values are very high, the characters are extremely well etched and memorable, their ensemble is excellent and it is very well directed. For this reason the drama returns back to us over the threshold and it becomes watchable. Just. The performances by most are effective, especially Anna. She will reliably give you creeps while she inhabits the well designed world of the series. Some of the acting is, how would I say, highly stereotyped though. The priest however is a bastion of normality within the story. I could really relate to him. He is one of the characters who reacts logically to everything and feels real.If you like scifi you will probably like this.It is fast paced too so it will impress the impatient.

WARNING: This review DOES contain spoilers.I've just finished watching the last episode of the series and I feel utterly and completely let down.I'm a fan of the original but approached this re-imagining with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised. Gone is the camp 1980s vibe, the cheesy Visitor Willy, the big hair and the unbelievable over-acting of Diana. The new Visitor's leader Anna is believably evil and the central plot has been updated to be more believable also; the Visitors do not want us as a source of food - which one would have thought could be cooked up by any hi-tech alien culture in a laboratory, instead they want to cream off the best parts of our DNA.In fact all of it was enjoyable watching with good strong characters developed over time until, that is, I came to the last episode which ends the series so abruptly and inappropriately.I feel robbed! Why did I waste my time on this? It's like you are reading a really good Agatha Christie novel and you finally get to the bit where all the guests are assembled in the library, you turn the page and you see "The End".This is a show that was abruptly cancelled it's true but not wanting to spoil it I didn't read about it's cancellation and watched it on DVD believing there'd be some kind of a satisfactory outcome. The DVD case should have been marketed with a great big red sticker over the front of it reading "Warning: This is an unfinished work!".

The aliens have come, and they say they want to be our friends. Anna (Morena Baccarin) is the face of the aliens. Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) is her daughter. Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) is a journalist who worms his way into a prime spot with the aliens. FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) stumbles on some nefarious alien activity. Tyler Evans (Logan Huffman) is obsessed with the aliens ignoring his mother's warnings. Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) is concerned about the aliens even thought the church hierarchy has accepted them wholeheartedly.Tyler is super annoying. Alien Anna is super creepy. And alien Lisa is super hot. As for the story, it is unrealistic to accept that the humans could fight back. Like the original, it is hard to write this believably. The production value is as good as they could make it for a TV show. But it is just too hard to achieve that grand scale. By the end of its 2 seasons run, there were too many unreasonable plot lines.

but still a disappointment.Okay, I remember the truly dreadful 1980's V, which fell victim to a lot of the same problems. You have this setup, and nowhere to go with it.The V's are lizards who have a scheme to do nasty things to humanity because, I guess they are nasty people. Okay, there was little actually eating humans in this, so that's something.HOnestly, they kept trying to put in twists were nearly everyone has a hidden agenda. You needed a scorecard to keep track of them all. They also felt the need to bring back Jane Badler from the 1980's series as Ana's mother, Diana. Thankfully, some time since the 1980's, Ms. Badler learned how to act. Unfortunately, they still didn't have anything interesting for her to do.In the words of Mr. Plinkett, I don't think I've rolled my eyes this many times since I had that Demonic Possession.
