I finally found the time to watch this show, being a lover of the original movie, series and SG:Universe. What I want explained is how this show was renewed for another 4 seasons??The story lines throughout the series are repetitive. The progress of each episode is predictable, that being: --Opening pleasantries, followed by --Inbound crisis, followed by--Mad scramble to fix the problem, followed by --The all is fine endingAnd there is nothing worse than the "Just In Time" type story line- --A new technology is discovered Just In Time to fix the current crisis --A new facility is found in Atlantis Just In Time to fix the current crisis--The scientists are able to reprogram the Atlantis computers to evade the current threat Just In time --The enemies reconsider their attack/switch sides/take on human morals Just In Time to evade annihilation --The non-operational defense systems are fixed Just In Timefor the attack. --etc etcThe best performances came from the support cast.I can't believe I wasted 30 hours watching the first two seasons hoping it would improve.

Obvious plot holes, sub-par CGI, some problems with continuity, issues with how the military handles their respective positions that had me rolling my eyes and mumbling under my breath.Whew. In the name of honesty, those are the reasons why I'm not giving the show a 10/10. Incredible acting, and despite the plot holes, the story is built up to perfection, with season finales that have you gripping your seat (And mumbling at the TV). Or netflix, in my case. It's an incredible show. If you haven't watched it, do yourself a favor: Watch it. The lead actors are compelling and likable, the villains are villainous without being cliché. Even though the CGI isn't the best, it isn't bad enough to distract you from the spectacular story.

************May contain spoilers*************** Just been catching up with the series on Netflix, and can only say that it's another show cancelled way too early. Was it perfect ? No. Was it enjoyable ? Yes.Unfortunately, Sci-fi on TV seems to often be the first casualty in cuts. While 'reality' shows and cheap soap operas carry on indefinitely. And this shows here quite clearly. An ending that seemed to be rushed - and left many stories left to be explored - primarily, did they ever get Atlantis back to the Pegasus Galaxy.A show that could easily have had at least another 2 seasons - but like many shows, seems set to languish.Shame.

This is one of my favourite sci-fi series ever. There's so much here to recommend and, although since it's a spin-off of Stargate SG-1, requiring you to be at least somewhat familiar with that series' first seven seasons, it is still a great show in its own right.I think that a great part of its success is owned to the series' unrelenting spirit of adventure, in terms of tone the show's pilot is very similar to the first Star Wars movie, the music by the late Joel Goldsmith was robbed for an Emmie Award in my opinion, for its sheer uplifting nature that contributes much to the tone of the series. The premise is that after the events of the seventh season of SG-1, Earth discovers that the mythical city of Atlantis is actually a city-sized starship build millions of years ago by a race of beings called The Ancients who are indirectly responsible for the creation of the human race, as well as its location in the distant Pegasus galaxy. Stargate Command, utilising what little power remains in an Ancient power source, supercharges the Stargate on Earth enough to establish a wormhole to Atlantis and send an expedition team on a (potentially) one-way trip to the city. Once they arrive they discover that 10,000 years ago the Ancients were brought to the brink of extinction by a malevolent race called the Wraith which now rules over the Pegasus galaxy's human-like inhabitants the same way a farmer rules over a cattle (that's not a figure of speech, the Wraith eat humans). The Atlantis expedition now must use the hyper-advanced technology of Atlantis to fight the Wraith and find a way to re-establish contact with Earth. The series genre is Acton-Adventure with a little bit of comedy and drama tossed in, the action scenes and production values (in particular the CGI effects) put some sci-fi blockbuster films to shame, the acting and the writing are great across the board with the occasional bad or mediocre episode (just stay away from the episodes "Irresistible", "Irresponsible" and "Harmony" not only are they filler episodes but they are also unbelievably stupid) and the whole thing has an unbelievably uplifting tone. This is the best of the franchise and I recommend this series to any sci-fi and action buffs out there, this tightly written, beautifully directed, superbly acted and scored and you won't be disappointed if you're looking for adventures.
