I understand that most adults wouldn't enjoy this show but this show isn't meant for adults. Class my not contain the best acting or writing I've ever seen but it is interesting with an engaging plot and mostly likable characters. I also really liked that the main character was openly gay and in a happy relationship, being that I myself am gay. It's not a show for everyone but people need to remember that this show isn't targeted for everyone. In my opinion it was a great show, that I loved, and I really hope that season 2 is going to be confirmed soon.
... View MoreThe main influence of this series isn't Doctor Who but Buffy the Vampire Slayer. There is a long list of similarities, from the high-school grounds being the center of adventures, to the teen angst, and to easy parallels between the two monster-fighting gangs (prime example: the reluctant ally who would hurt the main characters if it wasn't for a brain implant). The show does well to openly acknowledge this influence (mentioning the similarity to Buffy's "Hellmouth" in the very first episode), which is actually part of a very good start: at first, the show doesn't seem to take itself too seriously, throwing in lots of jokes and pop-culture references. This good start is later spoiled by the very wrong pacing, which makes the show run out of steam and out of ideas remarkably quickly. It's as if the creators decided to condense 22 episodes into 8. The development of the characters and of the dynamics among them skips several steps, there's hardly any bonding, team-building and character-developing episodes, since almost every single episode past episode 3 addresses the main story arc and feels like a finale. The rushed nature of the whole season is so obvious that I can't help but thinking it was for external reasons (budget cuts leading to a much shorter season than originally planned maybe?). In any case, a good opportunity has been missed in this show. It *could* recover if a second season returns to a normal pace, but there are a lot of rushed plot lines that need to be fixed for this to work.
... View MoreClass was a very dark version of doctor who, its not as kiddie as Sarah Jane adventures due to the gore etc. The plots and story lines were very gripping. It will be a huge disappointment if they don't make a season 2 and very embarrassing because of the cliffhanger at the end of episode 8.The only disappointing episode was the 4th one (co-owner of a lonely heart) The first episode featured the doctor to boost the shows confidence. Class is probably as good as doctor who and Sarah Jane put together. One thing that bugs me is that Tanya does not look like a 14 year old. Overall i rate the show a 9 it could of got a 10 if some of the errors of the show were removed.
... View MoreClass is excessively and unnecessarily bloody, gory and violent. This is a Doctor Who "spinoff" in name only, not by nature or presentation. Definitely not family fare. A friend (who lives across country) and I both marked it off our watch list after seeing the first episode and the previews for coming episodes. Since when did the brainy, witty concept of Doctor Who turn into an unbridled gore fest? Class has a barely-tolerable premise, questionably dark and gruesome plot line, and strikes us as a shameful exploitation of the concept that likely wouldn't succeed on its own were it not attached to the Doctor Who brand.Parents: check Parental Guidance for additional details.
