This 2013 Fox TV sci-fi series was almost really, really good! It certainly had many great elements! It was a great concept it was imaginative it was scientifically insightful had great special effects high production values and featured great actors (Ealy & Urban were actually quite good together).Yet for all its greatness it certainly had plenty of whateverness Lili Taylor and Mackenzie Crook's characters were bombs the soundtrack was totally obnoxious there was way too much ridiculous robot-on-robot fighting too much gun porn and most damming a very weak story arc. This lack of a story arc which was supplemented by all sorts of unexplored and unrelated lose ends kept me wondering what the heck was the point to it all? If the point was the humanizing of a robot (synthetic soul) as the name implies it really did not give the concept its props. If not what the heck was it about? Chalk it up to bad writing a one season failure that flirted with greatness! 6 of 10 stars RECOMMENDATION: Play a drinking game with this series by taking a shot every time you hear the phrase "are you OK." You will catch a good buzz and it will become quite comical!
... View MoreI watched all 13 episodes. Great story and characters. Each episode was another to capture your attention and wonder. Would be great to see more episodes. It was created in a interesting setting and with a well made plot to go with it. The world with overflowing new tech creates a whole world of different crime from reality, it keeps things interesting. Did Fox really cancel this so the Kardashians could have more screen time? That doesn't sound right at all. Should definitely bring it back. There may be shows in the past that I loved more, but I definitely would say this is well worth watching. It is far more intriguing than the Kardashians arguing all the time. Almost Human made it to the TV here and I'm so glad it did. It is worth watching even if it stays a cancelled TV show.
... View MoreWhile I wouldn't call "Almost Human" one of the BEST sci-fi television shows ever made, it was all the same a solid show. I watched every episode, and I was bummed when it was cancelled. I liked the show for a number of reasons. The show had some really good ideas of what new technology - good or bad - might happen several decades from now. Every episode was well-paced with an agreeable blend of drama and action. The best thing about the show, however, was the relationship between the two lead characters. There was some good chemistry, as well as some real character development.Hopefully, the shameful way that the FOX network treated this show will finally give sci-fi television show producers a clue that FOX has never handled sci-fi television shows very well (for example, remember "Alien Nation"?) If you are such a producer and are reading this, pitch your proposed show to another network instead.
... View More"Fringe" producer J.H. Wyman created this sci-fi crime drama set in the year 2048, when John Kennex (Karl Urban), a veteran Los Angeles detective with mental and physical baggage, returns to the force, but struggles to adjust to the mandate that requires human officers to be paired with robots. Fortunately for Kennex's psyche not to mention his well-being he's eventually partnered with one called Dorian (Michael Ealy), an older model of android that's capable of expressing emotions, which will make all the difference in the world as they depend on each other to battle terrorists, drug rings and cyber-criminals in all corners of the city. Series regulars include Minka Kelly, Mackenzie Crook, Michael Irby and Lili Taylor, and John Larroquette guest stars as a brilliant but slightly off-killer robocist.
