Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior Trailers

It is the story of an average, popular American teenager named Wendy Wu who discovers that in order to win the coveted crown she must first learn the way of the warrior. Wendy Wu has a one track mind, and that track leads directly to the title of homecoming queen -- no unscheduled stops, and no unnecessary detours. When a mysterious Chinese monk named Shen arrives to mold Wendy into a fearless kung fu warrior, however, her royal aspirations suddenly jump the track as she desperately attempts to juggle her boyfriend, her homework, and of course, the fierce competition to become homecoming queen. Now, as Wendy begins to train her mind, body, and spirit in the ancient tradition of the martial arts and her inner warrior gradually begins to emerge, the girl who once obsessed over popularity finally begins to put that popularity into perspective as she gradually realizes what truly matters in life.

The theme of Chinese marital arts on a Disney Original Movie caught the attention of my kids. I watched it with them last night when it was replayed. I also got hooked and entertained with the way the story developed. It was very interesting to see an Asian-American character as the girl to beat to become Homecoming Queen. She was frankly quite annoying in those scenes where she was trying her darnedest to shake off the Buddhist monk Shen, but the light mood of the whole movie made it tolerable. The scenes where Shen involved Wendy's teachers during training and the climactic fight were very action-packed yet with a sense of humor. You are willing just to overlook those impossible scenes (like how Wendy changed into her Chinese fighting garb at the museum that her Grandma brought for her, among many others). Oh well, it is all in good fun!

Brenda Song is probably best known for being London Tipton, the dimwitted daughter of a wealthy hotel owner in The Suite Life of Zach & Cody. She proves in this film she can do more than be a pretty face! She said in a behind the scenes documentary for this film that she took karate classes as a child (even though she wanted to do ballet) and the really paid off! She kicks major booty in this DCOM.The Basic Plot: Wendy Wu (Song) is a young lady hopeful of being Homecoming queen, but it is not until a young monk (Shin Koyomada) reveals to her that she is part of a prophecy...and that an evil force has been released and it is her duty to bring it down...but Wendy will have to hang up her prom gown and her hopes of becoming homecoming queen as well...This is unlike any DCOM I've ever seen! Amazing special effects and martial arts choreography. I give it and 8/10

The movie,Wendy Wu Homecoming Warrior, started off by first introducing Shin Koyamada as Shen,a Buddhist Monk(from China) who is well-trained in martial arts and is destined to battle against the evil and powerful Yan Lo(and die).He can only defeat Yan Lo together with the Yin Warrior who is reincarnated as Wendy Wu,a pampered junior high school girl who is only concerned about popularity, fashion and boys.Wendy is now only concerned if she would become homecoming queen(in her school) but she also have to deal with Jessica Dawson, her rival since she was a child,as Jessica is competing against her to become homecoming queen. However,Jessica has a better chance of winning as she is more responsible with a better record and grades and Wendy is worried when Shen comes along and worsens her mood.Soon Shen manages to convince her(with the assistance of Wendy's grandmother). In the mean time Yan Lo goes around possessing people to get rid of Wendy's powers to prevent his destruction. Finally,Jessica is possessed and Shen together with Wendy have to fight her.Wendy now gave up going to accept her title as homecoming queen and battles Yan Lo.They successfully get rid of Yan Lo and Wendy sends Jessica off to become homecoming queen, giving up her dream she had been having since she was a child.Thankfully,Shen and Wendy destroyed Yan Lo forever without him being able to return and Shen wasn't killed,he is alive and not dead which was what should happen to him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That would be the storyline, those who think that it was reasonably good are insane.I mean it was ferociously unrealistic with sudden events like Yan Lo suddenly showing his true form and Shen alive.I particularly felt that Brenda Song HAD FORTUNATELY saved the day as the overall performance of the other actors(especially Shin Koyamada) were relatively poor except for the character of Jessica(Ellen Woglom).Thw whole movie was somewhat hilarious because of the character of Wendy Wu.The factors that spoilt the movie are the storyline and the acting.

Worst DCOM I have seen. Ever. Well, maybe not as bad as Smart House. This was just bad. The acting and story was fine, but the effects SUCKED!They were so fake! The only good fight scene was between the brother and Shen. That was probably the only scene in which I was excited.Overall, I found this movie very boring and the film kind of ended suddenly. I will give it a four for Brenda Song who is a very funny actress and that one fight scene.4/10
