The Uninvited had some problems with pacing, and the plot was a bit contrived and predictable, but it had some genuinely creepy moments and an interesting cast. I enjoyed watching it and I would probably watch it again.

the makers of this movie certainly got confused with the genre,it has an supernatural horror mixed with mystery and thriller and that's the reason the movie makes lesser impact than it could have done. if the movie had an mystery thriller genre this could be an decent movie. otherwise it has an great suspense..

I found The Uninvited on IMDb and saw it got an okay rating (6.4) as a horror/suspense film.(Usually I think that horror movie above 6 could give it a try) So I watched it and thought... meh.First of all, I can probably get what the director is trying to leave the audience to. I was expecting a better and more surprising plot twists than the ending gave me. It was implausible and unconvincing and made me feel that the first 90% of the movie suddenly became trash. I was confused with I finished it, then thought for a while while it gradually makes sense but still filled with tons of flaws. I really expected the director to clarify more on the ending.Secondly, I felt that the movie wasn't scary. There are some jump scares but it's just not scary. It's more suspense than it is scary. There are many scenes that could make it even scarier, but it didn't. However, I do like the cinematography, you can actually tell the difference comparing to other remakes, and The Uninvited stands out from the others. The acting was above-average. We got Emily Browning as the teenage girl who just got out from the mental hospital, Elizabeth Banks as the evil stepmother, Arielle Kebbel as the sister, and David Strathairn as the father. I especially like, Emily Browning who absolute suits the daughter and Elizabeth Banks. I really like how the two actresses interact with each other. The Uninvited is like those movies which stuck between the kick-ass movies and the suck-ass movies. It is definitely not as good as Insidious or Sinister, but is way better than the Grudge and One Missed Call. Since this is a remake, the Uninvited has lots of potential, but failed which turns it into a confusing movie. I am not saying that it is bad, I still find it quite enjoyable, but reviewing from the whole, the ending could have been way better.

After being away for a while in a psychiatric hospital due to not being able to handle her mother's death and trying to commit suicide, Anna returns home to live with her father Steven, his new fiancée Rachael (the nurse who took care of Anna's mother during her illness), and her sister Alex. Also, ever since her mother's death, Anna has been experiencing hallucinations, but as the visions continue, she sees that they are actually OF her mother trying to tell Anna what really happened the night of her death with everything pointing towards Rachael. Alex & Anna start investigating Rachael's past and they start to dig up evidence that indicates a much darker side to Rachael and that she isn't who their father thinks she is.The Uninvited is actually an American remake of the somewhat creepy Korean film, A Tale of Two Sisters, and isn't actually too bad of a movie itself. I actually think that The Uninvited is a bit more creepier than the Korean film with a good amount of suspense throughout. There's no doubt there will be a bunch of people condemning this movie as being "Americanised", but instead of listening to the moaners and anti-Hollywood crew, watch it yourself and enjoy it for what it is....a decent psychological thriller. The Grudge was an American remake of Ju-on but was still enjoyable. As was The Ring. I thought the Asian versions were better BUT that didn't stop me from enjoying the remakes. Like A Tale of Two Sisters, The Uninvited has a very good twist to it and it needs you to pay attention for you to truly get what is happening. The story does get to a point where you do think that's it's not that original and you've seen it all before...until you get to the twist which makes the movie. Decent cast as well with David Strathairn as Steven and Elizabeth Banks who does well to portray Rachael as such a b*tch. Not an amazing film, but still a good one nonetheless.
