First of all, I haven't watched the original movie yet (The Omen 1976) so I am not regarding this as a remake, but just like everyone is saying, it was a bad remake, welp, to me, it's a bad "movie". And without its being a remake, I don't get it, there is nothing special about this movie, and it feels like it's trying to get you somewhere but then fails and strays from the road. Aside from a very few good moments, this is absolutely nonsense. I had high hopes, because of the title, and the opening, and most importantly, how people praise the original movie which I will definitely watch. I don't think this is the movie that my cousin had recommended to me, he must've meant the 76' one.3.5/10

The Omen (2006) is not a movie that is for everyone. Some people will definitely be turned off by it, and not because it's a bad film, but because it is a dark movie, it's not the goriest ever, but the plot and the overall tone of many scenes is very dark and gloomy. Julia Stiles and Liev Schreiber do a good job in their starring rules, I really enjoyed Liev in particularly, he just seemed very focused, dramatic when necessary, and he just seemed to fit in his role. The script is pretty well written and the direction worked also. The visuals are well done, although there is one killing that occurs in the film that I through was too brutal. The other violence and killings aren't over the top graphic, but that particular killing was just over the top in my opinion, and also, the visuals to that kill looked slightly fake/cheap. The nanny that comes to work for them after the horrific suicide of the first nanny is very creepy and just has a very eerie feel to her. That actress really did do a wonderful job at playing that role, her very presence gives you chills. The ending is bone chilling and well constructed, no spoilers here, have to see it for yourself. I will say though, this film is not for the squeamish or the kind that gets easily disturbed/offended by dark material. I mean after all, this is Satan's son we're talking about here. 7/10 for The Omen (2006)

Virtual scene-for-scene remake of the 1976 Omen film with the 21st century music video gloss that passes for cinematography now. That this was made by the same director who would later do the awful Max Payne and A Good Day to Die Hard should come as no surprise. John Moore is a director more focused on making a film look good than actually be good.Did The Omen need to be remade? Of course not but such is the nature of the business. Before I start going on a diatribe about that, I'd better get back to this film and what's good or bad about it. What's good: some nicely staged scenes, but nothing particularly creative or original. For a director so obsessed with visuals, Moore offers little to improve upon the original's film's creative death set pieces. He just copies them. How creatively bankrupt is this man? As for the bad: the movie is plodding, unoriginal, often boring with no suspense or scares worth mentioning. Will viewers unfamiliar with the original film feel the same way? I think so unless these viewers are just generally unfamiliar with movies altogether. The cast is nothing to write home about. Julia Stiles tries and Liev Schrieber is dull as mud. Mia Farrow does fine with a performance that, judging by some of the praise I've seen, is a tad overrated.Overall, it's yet another misfire remake of a superior film. Do yourself a favor and see the original instead. If you already have seen the original, watch something else. Something new or something old you haven't seen before. Just not another crappy horror remake.

Okay, maybe this was unfair of me, but I watched this version right after re-watching the original Omen. I really like the original. I think I first saw it when I was 10 or so, and was duly scared, finding the cemetery scene quite memorable.Oh my, the 2006 Omen was boring in comparison! Pedestrian music. Uninspired sets, apart from the apartment near the subway, but even that I'm sure I've seen used before. The director has done one impressive thing: even Pete Postlethwaite, whom I normally love, was not so great in this! What a waste of a talented cast. This director had a lot more money to spend and the art of special effects has surely improved greatly since the original, but how did he kill Mrs. Baylock? Runs her over. Uninspired.
