For fans of mechanized terror, this film is a must. If you enjoyed "The Car", "Christine", "Wheels Of Terror" or "Duel" I strongly urge you to pick up a copy of this flick. The stars John Michael Morris and Rachelle Christine play a convincing couple who are on the run from a truck that is every bit mysterious as it is dangerous. For their roles as, respectively, Sheriff Jack Bishop and Deputy Clarence Bishop, Tim Emery and Andy Grace give the viewer some hilarious family fighting scenarios to which we can all relate. The finale to this movie is on par with any high budget flick you will ever watch.I doubt I'll be 'spoiling' anyone's surprise by letting on that at least some of these characters get killed throughout the movie. If the film has any weak points, it is only that they cannot be brought back for a sequel.
... View MoreThe Truck (2013) Here we have a short film about a murderous truck who begins his killing spree quite early on in the film. This is quite a low budget movie but, in my opinion, delivered very well for what it is.We start off with a (I'm assuming hippie) man dropping off a runaway girl at a crossroads, who looks as if she'd rather be anywhere but in that truck with him, and then gets quite promptly run down by our titular truck. Cut to a young man and woman named Roger and Alice, our main prey of the film, who after chatting and blustering with some folks are being harried briefly by the killer. We are then introduced to our officers-of-film, Sheriff Jack and Deputy Clarence, who do their usual cop-on-film banter, and who are our other main characters of this film. I did find the idea of trying to be threatening with a little wooden stick to be pretty funny, especially when he keeps dropping it. The teens are heading towards an old campground left to Roger via his family, to which young Alice points out what we're all thinking, yep, KILLERS! This film progresses about how you think it would for this type of story, The Truck begins hunting the teens, the officers try to stop it, and the teens try to avoid being run down in the process. That isn't to say this movie is bad, in fact, it's very good and fun killer vehicle flick. For it's budget the effects were great and the acting was far better than oh so many of the higher budget films many people praise. I especially enjoyed the rustic style and feel to this movie, was getting kind of bored with the "big city, flashy" special effects laden films with a million things going on all at once, the slow, simple pacing was quite the refreshing break. And let's face it, there are very few "killer vehicle" films out there in the first place, so I applaud Lee for going down this road (ha) when deciding where to go with this film.Overall I'd give this movie a solid 7.5/10 (which is actually high for me) it's a very fun film and I recommend this title to those needing a good, low-budget viewing. My closing comment is this: Instead of never looking for anything other than the negative, why not try to find the good things, even if just one, in a film you watch? The disappearing era where people sat down to simply enjoy a film...
... View MoreA Lee Vervoort flick.Where to start this written tribute to a great actioner on wheels? Loved,Loved this flick. We got a PLYMOUTH TRAIL DUSTER from Hell,A CAMARO that needs work and yet kicks up some dust of it's own every other scene. The devices of the Bad Truck include a winch,a bloody winch.Just let your imagination dwell on that ,Because we don't do spoilers,And It's much worse than you would assume. The acting is very well done,The starring couple were great,Could have done with a love scene,But I digress. The sheriff and deputy should have been continuing characters in other movies,Seriously LEE,A sheriff with a cadillac and a deputy whose wheel chair has a Gatling Gun..'.C'mon-These be Badazz !!!
... View MoreIt's amazing what Lee Vervoort and crew were able to achieve with a meager budget of $6k. This movie features some intense chase scenes, and some amazing stunts that would normally only be reserved for high budget movies. It even has a really cool and unique stalking scene in a warehouse, performed almost completely while the characters remained inside their vehicles. It also features many hilarious and awesome kills and great lines. With that said this movie isn't perfect; the kills are pretty low budget, and acting shaky at points (though on the other hand some of it is surprisingly good) but it kind of adds to the charm. This is the kind of movie to watch with friends and some beers. It is very much in the tradition of low-budget 80's horror flicks.
