I've binge watched all six movies in the series over the last few days. The first two were pretty good movies with interesting characters and some tense scenes. After the second movie, the series took a nose dive in terms of quality, which can be mostly forgiven considering the low budget of the subsequent films... Part 4 was decent for what it is and parts 3 and 5 had some redeeming qualities. Wrong Turn 6, however is just a bad movie, plain and simple. It's not clear exactly at what point in the series timeline this one takes place and tries to add this weird "cult" aspect, which does not work at all if you've seen the other films. Seeing Three-Finger, Saw-Tooth, and One-Eye dressed in hooded robes, partaking in some weird voyeuristic sex ritual really took me out of the movie as it did not fit the characters at all. Oh and the Hillicker family is rich in this one?? That was confusing. The original movies set up the cannibalism premise by explaining that there was no game in the area to hunt (due to toxic chemicals in the water), therefore resulting in the inbred hill people hunting humans... this movie completely ignored this premise by introducing a deer which was hunted by Danny and then eaten raw by one of the cannibals. The death scenes were neither scary nor comical... the characters were poorly written and performed... and the Hillicker Brothers were barely even in the movie. Also... (more of a series critique), if you're going to name a character after the number of fingers he has, you might want to be consistent on WHICH fingers are missing in each movie. If you've watched the first five movies, you might as well bare through this one too, but I really can't find anything good to say about this movie.

The fact that Wrong Turn became a franchise in the first place is baffling, not that I'm complaining. The original was essentially The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Hills Have Eyes, and it was great for what it was, but hardly original enough to warrant the franchise treatment. Then it got an action-packed, direct-to-video sequel featuring Henry Rollins kicking all sorts of inbred cannibal ass, and it was awesome. Then the sequels kept coming and coming; Wrong Turn 4 has some merit in its own trashy sort of way, but 3 and 5 are among the worst "films" ever made. So going into Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, you know not to expect top shelf cinema. But at the very least, you hope for some camp value, gratuitous nudity, and brutal kills.Wrong Turn 6 tries something unique to the franchise, though: a psychological angle. It's a story about a guy who inherits a large mansion from an unknown relative, and the mansion turns out to be the home and breeding grounds for the grotesque inbred cannibals we've come to know and love. The psychological aspect comes into play with the mansion's caretakers, distant relatives to the protagonist, and how they gradually lure him away from the reality that he once knew, represented by his oblivious group of friends, and eventually seduce him into their demented family culture. It's quite disturbing actually, and there are plenty of wince-inducing scenes here. The problem is the writing, directing, and acting - the bare necessities for a good film. The dialogue is horrendous; sadly, not in a so-bad-it's-funny sort of way. Things aren't much better acting-wise. It's not like great actors could have done much with a script like this, but these people are so unconvincing in their performances that the dialogue-driven scenes become downright aggravating to sit through. The sole exception is Sadie Katz as the caretaker Sally, who gives an unsettlingly sensual conviction to her character. She's by far the most alluring part of the film and deserves props for adding some credibility to the otherwise irredeemably bland cast. In regards to the directing, it can feel like you're watching a soft-core porn in one scene and then a graphic, torture-porn ridden snuff film in another. This may be due to the writing, but there's not even an attempt at building suspense. It just transitions from scene to scene with no regard to consistency in tone, pacing, or atmosphere; until finally, the movie ends.Again, there are admittedly great ideas buried under the disastrous execution. The plot is a nice change of pace for the series, the deaths are gruesome, and the ending is no doubt unnerving. Sadly, Wrong Turn 6 is bereft of production value, and the subject matter is too bleak to be enjoyed in a campy, fun way. It's a dreary exercise in gratuity; from the glorious nudity to the grisly gore, it's all shock and no awe. If you've seen the previous five installments, you might as well watch this one - it's a hell of a lot better than 5. But don't go in hoping for a return to the schlocky entertainment value of 2 or the genuine terror of the original because you sure as hell won't find either in Wrong Turn 6.

So what can I say about this movie? I kept an open mind when it came out I watched it and kind of enjoyed it the first time around thought it was pretty decent didn't mind the acting or kills the only thing I didn't like was the hillbilly makeup I even looked past the fact that this was an incest movie I actually kind of liked the backstory the first time around not sure why then I realized this time around there was no reason and this movie actually sucks and makes no sense whatsoever so the hillbillies reside in a nice hotel and they go from there to living in a dump in the West Virginia forest? That's really believable...also this whole movie is about how they kept their family and bloodline alive by having sex with each other they sucked the main character Danny who is supposedly a family member who inherited the hotel into it and he becomes crazy and apart of it he became the master of the hillbillies as well I mean this movie is just all over the place and the incest disgusts me plus the acting sucks balls too none of these actors are known to me at all I could give it credit for some for a few of the kills except for one where the hillbillies stick a hose in the ass of one of the characters and pump water in him until he explodes it was stupid. I honestly hope they don't make a 7th one they left it open for one so it might mean they'll continue this story I hope they don't if they make a 7th at all hope it's what happened after 3 cos if it's not I'm not watching it.

Danny, a young man who grew up as an orphan, discovers he has relatives who own a hotel in the middle of nowhere. He doesn't expect much, but when he arrives there, it turns out to be a rather huge (quote) 'palace'. He immediately makes plans for renovation and reopening. However, the friends who accompany him make disturbing discoveries about his family...This is probably the least favorite sequel of the horror fans, because it takes 73 minutes until the chase really begins. To distract the audience from lack of action, the producers put in more nudity than the previous 5 episodes altogether. Somehow the pieces don't make a good picture, for example the 3 freaks disguising as monks for a ritual are a 1960s European Gothic movie element that doesn't fit into a modern American splatter series, even if shot in Bulgaria.Yet the movie has a couple of strong points, too. An amazingly edited scene is when the hero is invited to hunt with bow and arrow. This temptation of violence is cut in between the other family members chasing the sheriff while the voice over comment is very ambivalent. Another case of parallelism is when the hero is introduced to the bizarre family members. Instead of kissing his girlfriend, he finds himself in the arms (or rather, legs) of his cousin, floating from his past into the future intended for him without even noticing. In no previous episode, anyone was attracted to join the family, that was a good idea in the script to start with. However, some silly stuff and poor acting do a certain damage to the overall impression. I voted 8/4/6/7/5/4 for the 6 movies.
