Our friend Warwick is a delightful host, and he's always dedicated to entertaining his... Guests. There's so many twists and turns that we never even come full circle. It's well worth the watch.

The Perfect Host is a great showcase of a thriller/suspense. Being held captive is bad enough, but to be treated as Taylor was must make it 10x worse. There are a few flaws but none too bad that you can't look past. One being: how did he hurt his foot? This is the question most are dwelling over, hut it is simple, he is a criminal on the run, and he easily could've been shot, or tripped over some barbed-wire. Nothing too hard to comprehend. A teeth-clenching finale shows how corrupt people may be, as well as how delusional one man can become after years and years of loneliness. It was a sad moment when Warrick stood back up after being "stabbed" with his fake knife. I was actually rooting for John to leave, at least somewhat, unscathed, but anger and aggression took him over. The ending would've never happened if Warrick hadn't had knives and swords hanging on his wall. The other most seen question, or complaint, is: How convenient is it that Warrick just so happened to be a policeman? The answer is quite simple: John Taylor's arrival to Warrick's home was a planned event. It wasn't just chance that he stumbled upon an unwillingly friendly samaritan who turned out to be an undercover cop. He was followed, tracked, and almost forced to go to Warrick's.

Look, I would have given it a ten but then what grade would I give to Bergman films? I loved this quirky film. My wife, who likes action films didn't. But she stayed for whole film--so what does that mean?... I hate action movies but as you deduced this was almost a farce. very funny. Neither my wife nor I could remember who ordered from Netflix. She might have thought it was an action movie which she likes; or I might have read something about it in the New York Review of Books or the London Review. As I said above, it has so many twists that my back hurts. Kept me guessing throughout. Anyway I loved it. Have fun, see it.

What a gem of a film! I went into this one blind other than reading the short description on Netflix.Be patient with the beginning - it's a required element to set the scene and introduce us to the character John Taylor who it is intended that we don't want to 'root for'. It's a familiar ploy to ensure we don't connect to his character and instead sympathise with Pierce's character, Warwick, who initially appears to be the unfortunate victim as Taylor convinces him to let him into his home. And how the tables turn! Pierce is utterly brilliant as the disturbed Warwick, and is entirely convincing in his role as a mentally disturbed host. This film holds itself together mostly through his quirky, dark and psychotic performance. From the obsessive compulsiveness and disturbing facial expressions, to the strange walk, he builds the audience into a frenzy of anticipation as the full extent of his odd character becomes clear.Clayne Crawford is less convincing as Taylor although does shift his character nicely from hard criminal to scared prisoner in a consistent, though expected, way.The film does tell a story but, for me, that's really a catalyst for the 'performance' film that it actually is. It's ultimately a character study, an insight into psychopathy. The storyline, therefore, is relatively weak and flawed in places. If you can get past that, and a predictable climax, then I would recommend this film purely on Pierce's performance. Enjoy!
