Quite good werewolf movie, without those ugly and tacky transformations a la "An American Werewolf in London" and "The Howling". This time the writers added a different approach to the legend of the wolf men and women, providing a fine line in their half human-half animal essence that determines their behavior, giving them dignity and royal lineage, and proposing a new era of peace and less violence in their interaction with humans. The usual annoying elements that you find in commercial films are also here: editing striving for effect, too much music and a romantic musical video as some sort of plot point, when the young leading characters (a female "loup garou" and a young man) make public their attraction. But this is not the typical product providing cheap thrills. It is a fine genre motion picture, with good performances by Olivier Martínez and the young cast.

This is an unexpectedly good 2007 B movie with an involving if not always logical story and decent balanced effects. Plus there is an exotic location - Bucharest a city that seldom features in movies. It involves werewolves and the romance between a female werewolf and a human.Watching this for the first time in 2015 on DVD it makes an interesting comparison to the Twilight movies which came later. Liked that the wolves were not so big like in the Twilight movies. As the female werewolf Agnes Bruckner is a good watchable actress who deserves good roles. Hugh Dancy is a bit slender for a romantic lead as the human - no R Patz for sure but he's okay with her. Olivier Martinez as the leader of the pack looks the part but it's hard to understand his accent sometimes.Overall worth one watch.

I would forbid her to watch this crap. She would not be taught girls are to be owned, diminished or bossed or pushed by men, men and everywhere men. Seriously, no one listens to a word Vivian says and then she gets blamed for lacking in info. Good... nice...blame the victim. Preach that to the daughters and sons and we might as well withdraw womens right to vote. Clearly they don't have a say in anything. This is not a question of feminist analysis (well actually it is), but the view on women in this movie belongs to the dark ages. And the worst thing about these kinds of films (the Twilight series is another example) is the way they try to dress themselves in some lightweight feminism, but here's a clue, it take more than a female protagonist. The female protagonist should also take action or stand her ground or.. just speak up. The moral of this story is when a girl says no she rally means yes, all it takes is some perseverance. And isn't that nice, isn't that really soooo 21st century and enlightened.

The book that this movie is based on is actually a lot better then the movie. I do prefer the book over this movie. THe movie is completely different then the book. THey take place in two totally different places. I am not saying that i don't like the movie. i mean i do like it but I saw the movie before i knew there was a book and i have to say that the movie get basically everything wrong. So for the people that want a better plot line read the book. I do still watch the movie. i am watching the movies as i type this review on the movie. i shall try not to spoil any thing for or i hope not but even the ending are different in the book.
