It is a Low budget film, but they made it work with what they had. The characters were awesome, some great lines...funny as f*%k!!! A MUST.
... View MoreI just saw this film for the first time and I must admit it was rather enjoyable. This movie obviously gives tribute to many films such as "Demons", "Night of the Demons", "Evil Dead", etc. The movie is very fast paced, filled with random gore scenes and a few familiar faces for those of you who know your horror movies. The movie starts off with a young woman walking into a church/convent and slaughtering all the nuns that she sees. 40 years later, a group of what would appear to be stereotypical dumb college frat kids who are out one night looking for a good time. Of course they go to the old convent where the massacre took place 40 years in the past. After most of them are chased away by the police (Coolio and Bill Mossely) the one that stayed behind is sacrificed by a bunch of loser wanna be goth kids. This is where the movie finally picks up as the rest of it is a blood bath mixed with humor and gore.I must say the beginning of the movie was really bad with the stereotypical college kids but if you can hold out for about 15 minutes it really is all worth the while. Now, the version of the movie I just got claims to be the full uncut version which would make sense because most of the reviews I have read say they wish the movie was more gory. This movie was plenty gory, at least enough to keep my slaughter appetite in check. Also look for Adrienne Barbou kicking serious butt in the last 15 minutes of the movie. 7/10 stars
... View MoreDespite the bad reviews I decided to pick this movie up and it was interesting to say the least. Where it can't be deemed a "true horror movie" because of comic lines and acting (sometimes not intended I'm sure), this movie still has some merit. Acting and character depth are not its strong virtues and the special effects could never win any awards for sure. Coolio's role in the movie was funny and it was good to see Bill Moseley for once not hiding behind a ton of makeup. Adrienne Barbeau's character is over the top and drags the movie down somewhat. David Gunn's character will have you laughing as will Richard Trapp's character. The story idea is different and gets your attention. Instead of switching from horror film to horror/comedy throughout the movie, the movie would have been better served to be played out as a straight laced hard edged horror flick from start to finish. Despite its many flaws the movie is still worth picking up and watching. Just don't put your expectations too high.
... View MoreIf you like "Dead Alive" and "The Evil Dead", you will enjoy this movie for it's tongue in cheek seriousness and cartoon like violence. The opening sequence of the movie is very hardcore and enjoyable for it's over the top violence. We find ourselves witnessing a young girl in a catholic school girl outfit beating up nuns with a bat, setting them on fire and then shooting them with a shot gun. Don't worry, this is explained on the back of the box. Fast forward 40 years and the ride begins with a group of stereotypical college students that embody all the necessary personas. My favorite character is Goth girl Mo, whose one liners really pack a punch. My only regret about this movie is that she is not the main character and we are left with the wimpy Clorissa as the main character/hero. The wannabe Goths are also really fun to watch and you can tell everyone in the movie knew they were spoofing stereotypes and that everything was meant to be funny, instead of being funny because it sucks. The filming is much better quality than most B-movie films and this is most likely due to the fact that it is a Lions Gate picture. The special effects are sub-grade but like the afore mentioned horror movies it works because it's all so silly. Fun for a group of friends.
