Abandoned by his dance crew, Sean quickly assembles a new one with the help of a close friend in order to compete in a reality show called "The Vortex", which will reward its winner with a three year contract. Things won't prove to be easy as the recent past will come to haunt him while his mentality will tend to jeopardize his relation with the girl he likes. Add up a fishy conquest to the picture and you get a movie which excels through music and dance but fails to provide a good plot or a serious romance story. It's simply too cliché and too predictable to be a good story and too superficial in terms of romance. If you're looking for cool dance moves and entertaining music, this is a movie for you, if you want anything else, look elsewhere.

I was not impressed by this movie in any way, shape of form. The dancing was all over with very little logic in the sequencing and it might just be me, but I got the idea that they aimed for each individual to try and be better perceived than the next, instead of dancing as a group. The group sync is supposed to be the best thing about the dancing scenes and the only ones where they were any good, were at the final routine. The acting is VERY bad in this movie; not just execution but the approach to some of the characters are weak to say the least. The 'macho' attitude is also overdone once again, in the beginning sequence where the team splits up cause they simply can't do it anymore. The main character does then not even attempt to contact his old crew to ask them if they want to participate in the competition. This does not make sense at all and was an element they could rather have left out of the movie completely. I watched this on DVD and have to admit that I found myself forwarding chunks of the movie so I could get to the end quicker.

This film treks the story of a newly formed dance troupe competing in Las Vegas for a grand prize of a three year show in a big hotel."Step Up All In" is as entertaining as ever, with very good dance moves that is filled with youthful energy. It's vibrant and full of passion, lifting me up with their enthusiastic moves. I'm constantly amazed by how the actors and actresses move their bodies. It's very well choreographed, and the supporting visual effects are a bonus. The final showdown is a visual spectacle, and I really enjoyed it. I think this "Step Up" is an improvement from the last one, which was already good. I look forward to another sequel!

I'm not sure how they keep popping (pun intended) out step up movies, but here's another one! I actually think I only watched the first two and maybe a little of the third, but for sure did not watch the fourth, and now here's the fifth! I guess the plots for all movies are quite similar and not all that unpredictable, but hey it's a dance movie so I guess I should focus more on the dancing element.Really what all these shows are doing are just changing the main actors and tweaking the plot a little. I'd rather see familiar faces and follow them along then unknown people becoming the main characters. I know this Sean character was introduced in the previous movie but I did not watch that. To me, it's not a sequel if they don't follow the same characters. But I guess they do bring along the supporting dancers and tweak their stories a bit too. I was a tad disappointed at not seeing Alyson Stoner dance much though.I feel like the first movie was the best because it showed a more classic side of dance and the rest of the movies show more of a hip hop/ popular style with a lot of facing off and acting tough without any real reason. It is still entertaining I guess, it just doesn't feel like there's a passion or motivation there it's like, "here's a stage, add some props and dance."Anyway, there was some cool stuff in here. It's pretty hard to come up with original dance concepts and moves so props to them. The mad scientist thing in the lab was pretty well done and looked really cool. Go Moose! And actually the end move was pretty epic too, though it did look a bit fake. The acting was pretty mediocre overall. There were lots of parts where it felt awkward and too scripted, and the emotions didn't get across so well. The plot was also easy to follow along and I guess predictable, but that was to be expected. And I know I said to focus on the dancing element, but if I wanted to watch dance I could just go watch a dance channel on TV or search on youtube. This is a movie and movies need plot and acting, those are like the basics of a movie.Read more movie reviews at: championangels.wordpress.com
