Yes All The Actors including The Real Witches who play "Witches." resemble the actors and Witches of whom's roles they reprise but it's still a dumb premise. The Magic just doesn't cast the same spell that the original show's magic does. But you might still like I did in the theater but go see it to check it out on DVD.As it was heard The original surviving cast were close to doing a "Bewitched Reunion Special" But Turned it down because as Erin Murphy who played "Tabitha" had told me They were close but first Elizabeth turned it down then She did next because after looking at the Script they found out that it just wasn't very good.Which is why Elizabeth Montgomery even told the interviewer(s) at People Magazine."I'd Never do it again because it's already been done and I did it but I did hear one hysterical idea,Penny Marshal talked about remaking it with Billy Crystal and Meryl Streep and Dame Edna Everage as Endora." Yes Penny Marshal did produce this Movie.Truthfully,Stephen "Steve" G. Baer a.k.a. "Ste" of Framingham,Ma.USA
... View MoreBewitched (2005) was kind of a let down in my personal opinion. This movie is just pretty bland most of the time. Nicole Kidman does actually do a good job as the lead, even though she doesn't have very good material to work with. Also, I really enjoyed Shirley Mclaine in the film, she gave a solid performance. Kristen Chenoweth was refreshing to see as well, and was perfectly cast for her role as the best friend. I wasn't a huge fan of Will Ferrell in this movie, I thought he went kind of over the top at times. The main issue I took with the movie was the lackluster script and the boring dialogue between the characters. This movie's comedy was alright, nothing all that great though. The actor's performances was really the silver lining in this movie, the performances could not save the film, but at least it was something fresh out of this mostly boring film. Also Steve carrel was fun in this movie, even though his appearance was short and sweet. So overall a 5/10 for Bewitched (2005).
... View MoreWhat makes this movie so wonderful and exceptional is that it is not a typical attempt at a remake of a classic hit TV series - in this film, the characters are actors making a "Bewitched" remake! Very clever! Will Farrell plays Jack, an egotistical actor, desperate to have a hit after his latest movies flopped. (Nora and Dela Ephron deserve a ton of credit for this creative storyline - it's the most clever remake of a hit TV show ever!) Shirley MacLaine is hilarious as Endora! Nicole Kidman is wonderful, believably naive and sweet, suddenly thrown into the harsh reality of Hollywood. Steve Carrell as Uncle Arthur is utterly hilarious and one of the greatest highlights of this excellent movie! Carole Shelley as Aunt Clara is a delight! Kristen Chenowith is awesomely funny (and adorable)! Heather Burns is fantastic! Nicole, Kristen, and Heather have a great chemistry as friends and their scenes together are so enjoyable. We love every second of this film! We have seen it about 15 times and always find it fresh, clever, charming, and oh-so-funny! This will always be our favorite Will Ferrell movie and our favorite Nicole Kidman movie. The scene where Isabelle (Nicole) and Jack (Will) are dancing during Steve Lawrence's smooth rendition of the hit song, "Bewitched," is wonderfully romantic and fun. This film should receive more than 10 stars!! P.S. If you are a die-hard classic TV Bewitched fan, watch it with an open mind: Will Farrell is not Darren - he is Jack, an actor hired to play Darren in a "retooled" remake of "Bewitched". Nicole Kidman is Isabelle, a new actress hired to play Samantha. This film pays perfect homage and respect to the original classic TV show. Everyone should be able to enjoy and appreciate this ultra-clever, very funny, very quote-able, often hilarious, endlessly creative, absolutely amazing, surprisingly sincere and romantic, sweet film. (Wish Hollywood could make more funny, sweet, sincere, romantic movies like this!)
... View MoreOkay I really did not enjoy this movie. As someone who marginally watched the show I thought that a redoing of it for the big screen and for a new audience can be done if treated carefully. Good thing this movie has none of the original characters and recycles a plot line done to death completely to make this seem tired and stale.Okay so the story, Isabelle Bigelow (Nicole Kidman) is a witch that just wants to lead a normal life while her father (Michael Caine) doesn't approve or see why Isabelle doesn't want to get whatever she wants with a snap of the fingers. Meanwhile Jack (Will Ferrel) is an actor who's career is pretty much killed stone dead and he wants to revive it by being Darren on the remake show for Bewitched. They meet and he thinks she's good for the part of Samantha on the show while completely oblivious to the fact that she's a witch. It is then revealed that the show is going to be all about Darren and there is ABSOLUTELY NO NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FROM AUDIENCES OR CRITICS... I'll get back to this later and she decides to put a hex on Darren so he won't behave like a complete jackass. He then falls in love with her and then there's the scene where she reveals she's a witch then we devote ourselves to 20 minutes of moping and... YOU KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN AFTER THIS SCENE.Okay do I even need to say what's wrong with the movie? Okay how about Isabelle's only defining character is "I want to be normal" and yet she consistently uses magic when 5 minutes in she's trying to give up. Then there's reworking the plot to have it be about remaking Bewitched as a show and refocus it on Darren and nobody seems to mind in this world (Yeah, that sounds totally realistic and won't have rabid fans attacking it). It's boring, a complete waste of talented actors (and they act like they're totally devoid of life), not funny, not clever and apparently when everything is wrapped up it seems like it's not a big deal when Jack finds out that Isabelle put a hex on him which made him love her. Then there's the very predictable last half hour, It is pretty much the last half hour to every romantic comedy ever made and it feels about as full of life as that too.If you're a fan of Bewitched (which I'm not) then this is something to avoid. It has very little to do with the show and even if you've never seen the show everything about this is stale. I mean I guess if you've never seen the show and don't mind pretty much the same story that has been told over and over then there's a slight chance that you might like this, or if you absolutely adore everything that one of these actors has been in. If you aren't one of the people that falls into the category of what I've just said then you won't like it.
