I do love all the leprechaun movies since warrick davis did him wonderfully :) This one just wasn't my favorite cause he didn't rhyme or show much magic , barely any magic really , but there was a few bits of humor that makes the movie worth watching again :)
... View MoreLanding on planet Ithacon, a team of Marines runs into the leprechaun holding a princess hostage and rescues her, only to realize he's still after her and must find a way of dealing with his tricks to defeat him once and for all. This is one of the greatest guilty pleasures around. One of the best parts here is the fact that it goes far beyond the others due to how enormously cheesy this film is, from the central concept of being not only in the future but also in space which just doesn't seem logical why the series places itself there to begin with. The weaponry and futuristic look is a huge part of this as well as the concept of the continuous action scenes, and mixed together with the side-splitting jokes and visual gags presented by the Leprechaun and the very feel and tone for the film are just screamingly cheesy. By embracing it this time around without any kind of effort to keep it scary or thrilling, that environment can host situations as the half-man/half-machine scientist becoming a mutant creature or the comical kills including one where a face is crushed with a metal plate and where the Leprechaun emerges from a sacred part of the anatomy. The high amount of action in here doesn't harm it either and helps make this one more watchable by getting in plenty of confrontations between them that keeps the pace going along steadily. The opening firefight in the Leprechaun's lair offers plenty of cheesy fun in the strange location but with the majority of this one taking place on the ship there's a large amount of gunfights in here, making for plenty of exciting action moments. The shootout in the underground tunnel isn't that bad, nor is the one inside the garbage containment area, and the big battle between the two in the cargo bay finale provides some nice moments, while a cheesy hand-to-hand with one of their own comes off really good as well. Even that grand finale where the dual confrontations in the computer room and the cargo bay offer this one with plenty of thrilling moments that come the closest this one does towards offering up some suspense as the trip through the heating ducts is quite nicely realized and counters the fun of the giants' search in the other room and really makes this one so much fun. There isn't a whole lot really wrong with this one. The biggest issue here may be it's cheesiness may be considered too much for some to take, especially since it does take a certain mind- set to get into this style. Going for this one may not be for everyone's tastes considering the subject matter and style here considering the style and subject matter. The only other flaw to this one is the film's rather obvious cheapness which doesn't really give this one much of a chance to go anywhere since so many of the special effects here look pretty bad. The CGI effects in particular are really bad, as there's the display of his powers that are just silly while the use of it for the finale showing his body parts floating around in space looks really ridiculous. These here are the film's few flaws.Rated R: Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and Nudity.
... View MoreI don't understand this movie. Not a horror movie not a comedy not sexy but tries to be. Why try to be something you're not? Leprechaun 4 is not a fun movie to watch. Other reviewers suggest accepting this movie's failings with a sort of smiling submissive attitude akin to lying back and just taking it. F*ck that! Are you gonna just gladly lie back and take the 4th Leprechaun movie? Bad cheap sets? Awful lighting and cinematography? Worthless script wasting a talented actor( Warwick Davis)? You just gonna lie back and take that? Just laugh it off and make excuses for this piece of sh*t movie? You don't gotta live that way, no one has to.
... View MoreDon't you just hate it when a movie-series for no reason ventures into space. Lots of long running horror movie series did this and even James Bond did it with "Moonraker" but I have to say that this is probably one of the worst 'in space' sequels. This movie makes absolutely no sense. Why, for whatever reason, is the Leprechaun suddenly living on a far off planet in outer space? This movie has basically absolutely nothing to do with any of the previous movies and it doesn't ever slightly attempt to connect with any of them. No pot of gold in this one, no silly rhymes. Only thing that this movie has in common with all of the previous ones is that it stars Warwick Davis as the Leprechaun. At least he looked as if he was still having fun with it all. It's obviously of course also a far from original movie but this is not the biggest complaint. The movie could had really worked out and could had at least been entertaining fun to watch. It purely relies on its main premise of having the Leprechaun character set aboard a space craft this time. Sounds like an entertaining enough idea on its own, also since it has some space marines thrown in the mix but the movie just never works out and gets no way fun because it's all so poorly done. The movie is so bad that it's not even fun to watch. At least the other Leprechaun movies had some entertainment value in it but I only just wanted this movie to end. The movie has some bad characters, played by some equally bad actors. You just never care about any of them and you also just don't like them. They often do some very unlikely things, that just don't make sense once you start thinking about them. What exactly was the Guy Siner's character motivation, that obviously was an evil one but it made no sense what he did at the end, after his 'transformation'.It's a real cheap looking movie, with some plastic sets and some non-existing special effects. The make-up effects are still being as good as ever though. No way I ever want to watch this movie again.3/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/
