In England, the professional assassin Viktor (Luke Goss) tells the story of his life to a filmmaker since he was a bullied boy in the outskirt of Bucharest, Romania. His father owes money to the mafia and is threatened by enforcers. Viktor seeks a job with the mobster Sergei (Danny Midwinter) to make money but not to pay his father's debt. Soon his father is murdered by the mafia and Viktor is assigned to collect money from a man. Viktor kills the man and his wife and when he is ready to kill the two daughters, Sergei arrives and moves him to the city. Viktor learns how to become a cold blood and cruel hit man with Sergei and works for the Romanian kingpin Traficant (Stephen Marcus). During a drug purchase, the reckless son of Traficant, Franco (Ray Panthaki), kills the son of another mafia lord and Sergei is assigned to kill Viktor to cover up Franco's murder. However Viktor kills Sergei, simulates his own death and flees to London. Soon he is hired by a powerful mafia kingpin and Viktor saves a woman, Bethesda (Caroline Tillette), who is going to be raped by a gang in a coffee shop. She seduces him and they fall in love with each other. Sometime later, she is pregnant and Viktor decides to retire after resolving some loose ends in Romania. Then Viktor tells the filmmaker that Bethesda wants to meet him. What is the reason for the encounter?"Interview with a Hit-man" is a surprisingly excellent thriller. This film is distributed on DVD in Brazil by a minor distributor and without marketing, it is a wonderful surprise for viewers that take the chance to see it. Luke Goss has a top-notch performance in the role of the cold-blood killer Viktor. Caroline Tillette is a lovely woman and Danny Midwinter is perfect in the role of Sergei. The screenplay is well written and surprises the viewer in the very end. Revenge is a dish best served cold'. My vote is nine.Title (Brazil):"Entrevista com Hit-man" ("Interview with Hit-man")

"Interview with a Hit-man" offers a number of reasons to enjoy and appreciate the film, but also a number of reasons for frustration that it couldn't be better. The latter are somewhat mitigated by the recognition that this is an independent, first-time production by a writer/director/producer, so will not have the technical polish of a studio production. Luke Goss gives a credible performance as a dispassionate assassin who seems so desperate to cling to some semblance of his own humanity that he places disproportionate reliance upon a sort of code that includes loyalty and honor, but isn't necessarily subscribed to by the sociopaths in his world. The fight scenes are decent, although at times seem too easy. The film looks as if it was shot through some sort of gold or sepia filter that washed out most of the color, leaving a surreal image that is largely reduced to black and white, like the choices the characters must make. The most glaring fault in the movie is the incessant and distracting camera movement. Every single shot looks as if the cameraman was trying to balance on a unicycle while holding the camera in one hand at arm's length. IMDb and other movie sites should include a Richter scale rating indicating the level of unnecessary camera movement in each movie. Consumer rights groups should sue Steadicam to compel them to change their name to Jiggly-cam. Other quibbles include a few too many coincidences and a plot twist that was largely predictable and somewhat derivative. The film has long segments without dialogue, but too many scenes of talking heads. The romance seems rushed, forced and never believable. The film would have benefited from a stronger leading lady. The motivations of some characters seem contrived. As a first-time effort, as a low-budget independent direct-to-video, it's better than average and worth a view.

Hadn't heard of this movie. Finally got around to watching this after a friend kept going on about it. Almost switched it off when I saw the Kaleidoscope logo come up. I knew why I hadn't heard of it. Kaleidoscope is one of the poorer distributors in the Uk, usually releasing low budget trash badly. All I can say is I have no idea how they got hold of this film. The writing was on the money, the direction very good and it looked and felt authentic. The best films have a way of getting under your skin and this one stayed with me afterwards. Both the Elliot Greene and Luke Goss were perfect. I'm not a massive fan of Goss but he should have got far more recognition for his performance in this. The writer/director uses the very clever device of the has-been director interviewing a hit-man to hold everything together and jumping from past to present and back again. The action sequences are very accomplished and realistic and leave you wanting more and it's never action for actions sake. But it's the performances that make this for me. And of course the twists, the final one which you will never see coming.Great movie, watch it if you can. You won't regret it.

Plot: This is a simple movie with a straightforward plot save a few minor twists. Certain parts were pretty boring and redundant but overall it's a solid story.Character: My first impression is that Luke Goss looks a little too old for a hit-man and I cant help but compare him to Jason Statham. As the movie goes on, he grew into his character as a hit-man and at the end of the movie he has established the fact that he was cool and charming in a different way from Jason Statham. However, since the movie is some sort of a biography of a hit-man, the supporting characters were not given enough room to grow.Visual: Do not expect big explosions and brilliant effects since it's a low budget film; for a low budget film, the actions scenes were pretty good.Overall: Decent plot and solid acting from Luke Goss. Recommended for those who like movies such as Bangkok Dangerous. If I take into account its low budget, I would have given a rating of 8/10.
