Karan (Saif Ali Khan) is traveling to America. On the way, he sits next to a pretty lady, Rhea (Rani Mukerji) and incessantly pushes her to pay attention to him. And, during their stopover in Amsterdam, he convinces her (I have no idea how) to explore the town with him*. Several months later, they meet up in New York City and it does not go well. Three years later, they meet...at her wedding. Now this certainly SEEMS as if it's the end for this potential couple, right? Karan is a man-child. Although chronologically an adult, he still needs to grow up. His attitude towards women is abominable and additionally he's rude, kind of creepy and is stuck on himself. How can filmmakers possibly take such a thoroughly unlikable guy and put him in a romantic comedy?! While it's obvious some could accept his boorish behaviors, as the film has a respectable score of 7.1, it completely ruined the movie for me. I hated his character and just wanted to see him hit by a bus! As for Rhea she seemed smart through most of the movie and wasn't the least bit dazzled by this shallow jerk. So why, then, have this seemingly smart girl eventually fall for him?! Sure, it took years...but why other than the fact that this is the formula for a rom-com . What is not formula is making the couple so different and the guy so unlikable that you don't even care what happens by the end of the film.Aside from the cute animated sequences, there just isn't anything to recommend this film. With thousands of better Indian films out there, I suggest you try something else.

I like this movie a lot i first saw it last year in December. The second time i saw it was in this January. The movie is great.Plot opens when Karan launches a book named Hum aur Tum.Then after that it goes to flashback 9 years back where he met Ria on a flight to Amsterdam. On Amsterdam he kisses her.She is angry. They leave.3 years later he meets her she is engaged to Sameer. She marries him.Now 2 years later in Paris he meets her to only know she is a widow.Humor is great.I would recommend this to everyone. The direction, cinematography, music, photography are all in top notch. The DVD and vcd cover is also in top notch.Hum Tum cartoon is great.Rani did an excellent job,Saif also did a excellent job.The music by Jatin-Lalit(who is one of my favorites)are great too.Chemistry is great too.The others especially Rati,Kirron and Rishi and not to forget Jimmy were great too.A great movie.Highly recommended

Hum tum is a good and funny film. At first it is good but then it changes, it goes all depressing and serious near the end. Hum tum shows about a boy (Saif Ali Khan) who is in love with a married women (Rani Mukherji). When rani's husband dies she starts liking Saif Ali Khan and at the ending they get together. I liked Hum tum but thought the acting could just improve a little. Kiron Kher did nice acting as a mother and it was great to see Rushi Kapoor in a fathers role. I like Rushi Kapoor's old films such as, Coolie,Naseeb, Amar, AKBAR, Anthony and a lot of others. It was a passioned film and me and my friends and most of my family like the film.

Hum Tum literally means Me and You.At a book review for the new little cartoon, Hum Tum, journalists ask Karan Kapoor (Saif Ali Khan)if his story is hidden in the story that he wrote. Someone asks him what his story is, and Karan agrees to tell them. He begins where he first met a girl named Riya (Rani Mukherjee) on a New York destined flight. They meet and on a long layaway in Amsterdam, they can agree on one thing. They loathe each other. Riya thinks that she will never see Karan again, but she is wrong. When she is to wed Sameer, she sees Karan again. Karan was the wedding planner's (Rati Agnihotri) son. They still loathe each other, but Karan starts feeling a pull towards her. They have a couple of other quirky meetings that may either end in love or misery for them both.As the main story is going on, Karan's cartoons take life and basically form a subplot. Hum and Tum are, ironically, each of the cartoon characters' names. Hum is the boy, and Tum is the girl. At first, they aren't friends, and as Karan's story goes on, theirs goes on in a similar way. Will Hum and Tum ever get together and form the celebrated Hum Tum? Or will they also never ever fall in love? This movie is a very cute, clean romance between two people. It is not one of the regular Bollywood formulas, there is no parental interventions, and it just shows that love may develop over time. The romance that develops between Riya and Karan is strong, that even after viewing the movie, the watcher feels that they have been given something different from regular romantic movies. I recommend this film highly for anyone who even thinks of watching a Bollywood movie. Yes, there are cartoons, but they in no way detract from the movie.
