Pretty fun sequel that only has one character from the previous film as its based around him. Not sure why him but obviously the actor was the only guy happy to come back for another crack with this.Put straight this is simply an excuse for a fight every few minutes, almost every scene ends up with someone getting beaten up or guys standing off against each other menacingly. Not much plot wise happens for most of the film accept a crooked prison warden dealing drugs amongst the bad eggs, but then out of the blue near the end the film turns into 'Mean Machine' and we get a goodie prisoner v baddie prisoner footie match. Can't really say the match looks good as you don't see much footie from the bad camera work and the fact the prisoners just fight...as usual, what a surprise huh. At the end it all wraps up nicely in a bow and really does seem rather pointless despite being an OK film for fighting.Main issue with the film apart from the lack of proper plot is the fact it looks like the prison is in the US! prisoners wear orange jumpsuits and outside they roam around without shirts on showing their big muscles and tattoo's despite the English weather. The weather in fact appears to be very hot and sunny all the time and the prison seems to be set in a very sandy dusty almost desert like area, obviously trying for a slick desolate feel with the visuals...or something. Odd seeing as its suppose to be set in an English prison, I thought it was in the US at first and was confused. You enjoy watching unfit middle aged blokes kicking the hell out of each other in meaningless scraps? watch on. Look out for Vernon Wells as the prison chief.4/10
... View MoreThis one, I think, went straight to video. That would not surprise me, as this was a real stinker. It picks up where the original left off after the violent showdown between GSE and the Millwall fans. Dave Miller (Ross McCall) and two of his buddies are sent off to jail where they meet other jailed members of rival football firms who want to do them bloody harm. The damn thing looks like it was originally intended to be an American prison film, but was bought and adapted by a British firm. So what we end up with a sort of a bizarre cross between the soap Eastenders and HBO's prison drama Oz. Holes in the plot are quickly filled by unrelenting violence as Dave and the boys meet one disgruntled hooligan after another. Added to this mix are the tried and true roles of the Uncomprehending-but-Human Warden, the Honest Guard, and the Corrupt Guard. The Corrupt Guard develops a hatred for Dave and the boys, being as they have struck up a friendship with the Honest Guard, so she conspires with the Millwall thugs to stage a football match with the prize being release from jail. Of course she rigs it so Dave and the gang have almost no chance of winning, but the Honest Guard comes to the rescue and gets the match back on a level playing field so Dave and his boys win fair and square, and in the inevitable retribution of justice at the end, Corrupt Guard gets hers. Oh yeah, she's a woman in a men's prison. Oh, and in the role as the Corrupt Guard is none other than Marina Sirtis, late of Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now here is a warning to those of you that loved the show and correctly believed that Sirtis, as Counselor Troi, was Drop Dead Gorgeous: Do not watch this film. She has hit the wall and hit it hard. I could hardly believe at first that it was she. A friend of mine who works in Hollywood told me that Sirtis is a heavy smoker, so that accounts for a lot of the disparity. She also can't utter a sentence in the movie without using the F--- or C--- word. Usually in films such as these, the woman has a sex scene with one of the men. THANK GOD that didn't happen! I'd have tossed my cookies.
... View MoreAre you looking at a masterpiece you will remember for years to come? No. Are you looking at Oscar winning acting? Certainly not. Are you looking for a B-movie on a Saturday night with a couple of beers and a boll of chips? Ah yes? Then this movie is for you. Its nothing spectacular in term of script of acting, even the french dubbed version(i am in Quebec) is surely not one of the best i heard, but yet its a good action movie, it does incorporate some stuff from the previous movie, enough to convince us its a sequel. I wish the 2 main guys where showed in the first movie, cause except Dave and Big Marc(who, as a different actor, had a small role in the first movie) they are not characters from the original. But still there was tons of supporters in the first movie will small parts, so you can say its 2 of them. The whole violence in the movie seem pretty real, with blood, and the fights are not spectacular in the sense of a martial arts movie, but they are convincing as real beat downs. And I'm sorry i never been to jail, either in America or UK, so i can't make a difference between a USA or UK prison... That was my second watching of that movie today, first being one year ago before i saw number 1(not released in french DVD, had to buy the English version) and this one right after i saw number 1, and i say i enjoyed the movie as much as the last time. I own the DVD, so i will certainly re watch it in the future. This is clearly not a bad movie as the other review try to convince people it is.
... View MoreEagerly awaiting the follow up to GSH, my hopes were low when I learnt of the premise of the sequel. Still, I watched this film with the memory of GHS deeming my conscience to give the sequel a fair go and watch it through.I'm about an hour into the movie now, after a tiresome battle, my conscience won and thus this review.I need to let people know to not watch this. It's an abhorration and those fans of GSH -DON'T WATCH THIS!!It's just going to ruin it for you.If you liked GSH as much as I did, then you'll still check this piece of sh!t out anyways. And like me, you'll stop being interested pretty soon.
