Almost 30 years later, and this film still transcends above the rest. Although I was born years after this film came out, my heart swells when the intro starts. I believe it is Scorsese's best film. This film really takes you on a journey and puts in the shoes of these people, humanizing their lifestyle and their relationships. The soundtrack makes me giddy, and the way the film is shot truly makes you realize the art of movie making. Every time I re-watch the movie, I catch another small detail, providing more depth, beauty, and realness to the story. The first shot we see of Ray Liotta in the parking lot at the diner, the music, the camera angle, I get goosebumps every time. If you have not seen Goodfellas, stop what you are doing right now and watch it and then re-watch it immediately after again.

Goodfellas was a magnus opus when it released in 1990. Scorsese ventures back into familiar Italian mafia territory and everyone from Pesci and De niro to Ray Liotta are so good you stop seeing the actor and just look at them as their characters. Featuring some insane tracking shots and great visuals of the hood Goodfellas is a masterpiece in an already overflowing Martin Scorsese filmography. If you haven't already then please do watch this masterpiece of cinema.

Ranks up there with the Godfather trilogy. One of the greatest masterpieces in the genre of crime. Inspired the writing of The Sopranos (1999) as much detail and a total of 27 actors therein also featured in this epic mafia movie.

Short and Simple Review by WubsTheFadgerMartin Scorsese has made some of my all time favorite films. Goodfellas is one of my favorites. The story is slick, funny, brutal, and memorable. The dialogue is sharp and fluid. The characters are deep, relatable, and unique. The acting is masterful. Ray Liotta gives the best performance of his career. Robert De Niro, as always, performs best as a gangster. Joe Pesci gives one of his best performances as the loose cannon Tommy. All the other actors in the film perform masterfully. The pacing is perfect and the runtime is perfect. Everything about this film is perfect. The only downside to this film is that the violence is a little outdated.Pros: Slick, funny, brutal, and memorable story, fluid dialogue, unique characters, masterful acting, perfect pacing, and a good runtimeCons: Some of the violence is outdatedOverall Rating: 9.6
