The main issue people have with this movie is that the story is so silly. A town where dancing is illegal, whaaat? But turns out that it is based on a real story. There was indeed a town where dancing was illegal until the 80's. Only it was more one of those cases where nobody has changed the law for a century and it became a bit outdated.Besides being silly it is still a feel good movie. "I" love the dancing scenes. Mainly that famous Kevin Bacon scene as well as when he teaches his friend to dance.Another scene that I live is that tractor chicken game scene. Especially because the soundtrack to it is Holding out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler. Oh that was just perfect. One of the things I love about big hits from those times is that it includes a lot of well known actors, most at the very beginning of their careers. This is the case here as well. Kevin Bacon is so damn hot and so incredibly young, it was the movie that made him a star. Lori Singer is also there looking beautiful, although as far as I know it is also a highlight of her career. Then there is Chris Penn who will bring a lot of good work in the future but letting us to see him dance in this one. And it was exciting to see Sarah Jessica Parker. She was actually still a teenager in this movie. And I must say I got all giggly when she gave Kevin Bacon a compliment about his outfit.

I saw "Footloose" in the theaters in 1984. I was in high school and enjoyed. However in the years since its been released it has left a huge imprint on America. It is easy to understand why. The film itself had a huge best selling soundtrack album that not only included the title song but also classic tunes "Let's Hear it for the boy" and the often covered "Holding on for A Hero". People love this film however those who love this need to see it again. Time has not been kind. Even though the Crazy Right WIng Jerks seem to be taken over the United States today in 2017 they also had a grip on the United States in 1984 "The Reagan Era". In this film a teen moves to town with his mom and they live with her brother. The town seems to be ran by a jerk who is not the mayor but a Preacher on a Bully pulpit. The adults act like drones. They think the preacher was right in outlawing "Dancing" and "Liquor". Well all of that gets tested when Ren (Kevin Bacon) moves into town and decides to challenge everything that is banned. The film itself has great moments but on the whole (but even in 1984) the film is campy. Today the camp is now dated but the crazy. Keven Bacon and Lori Singer are good but the film scenes with the Reverend drag this film down! IT makes it boring. In the remake they should have had Ren of the Reverends daughter shoot him! In real life the Crazy Christians seems to have multiplied across the United States. I am sure if they read this review they will vote NO about this review being helpful, Well they can suck it!

This film is great for the most part. Pretty good acting in most scenes, a pretty great story, great soundtrack, great setup, etc. It's good, but good lord, it is SO cheesy. I mean, seriously. Some scenes in this film are so corny, that it's almost cringe-worthy. On top of that, some scenes can come off as more hilarious due to how corny they are. While the acting is good for the most part, a few actors/actresses kind of exaggerated with their teenage mentality, which was hilariously off putting. Besides all that, I greatly enjoyed this film and I think it's gonna be a permanent staple in the filmography of Kevin Bacon's. I recommend this film to those who like to dance and/or to those who are die-hard 80s fans. Because besides it being extremely cheesy, it's actually a great film.
