This concert is what all musical dreams are made of and it's just fabulous. I first viewed this 10 years ago (the year it was filmed) and it's a wonder I haven't outplayed the CD and Video/DVD! From the opening chords of "The Chain" through to Christine's beautiful encore of "Songbird", the chills and thrills will run up and down your spine just like Lindsey's fingers run up and down his guitar fretboard. This is a live musical masterpiece and is very addictive viewing and listening. The fabulous five are in fine form throughout, and it appears to be a total reinvention of sorts. The wonderful arena of the Warner Bros. Studios compliments the occasion with it's lavish stage set. There are so many highlights in this great concert including "Dreams", "Everywhere", "Gold Dust Woman", "Landslide", "Over My Head", "Go Your Own Way" and Mick's drumming! However, it's the lead guitar-driven performances of Lindsey Buckingham that steals the show from the hard-rock blues of "I'm So Afraid" (which is a passionately orgasmic experience to behold!) to the acoustically fresh "Big Love" and "Go Insane" both of which illustrate wonderful grace and beauty. There are also some new songs in there too namely "Temporary One", "Bleed To Love Her", "My Little Demon" and "Sweet Girl". Stevie Nicks' crowning moment comes in the form of the beautiful "Silver Springs" - wonderful! The finale is something to behold too, complete with the accompaniment of the USC Marching Band - "Tusk" and "Don't Stop", which leads us to Christine's heartfelt encore at the piano - Fabulous! If you don't own this on CD and DVD then where have you been for the past ten years - go out and buy tomorrow!!!
... View MoreThere are several DVD's out there of Fleetwood Mac but none of them measure up to this re-union concert. Most of the others have either someone missing from the lineup or members appearing on stage and certainly not enjoying themselves as they do on this one. Lindsay Buckingham is just brilliant on lead guitar. For a divorced couple, both John and Christie McVie put aside their differences to deliver an electric performance and Mick Fleetwood just superb on drums. Stevie Nicks voice is as beautiful today as it was 20 years ago. The songs in this concert are so much a part of our lives today we take them for granted. As this concert goes on it has the effect of turning it up just a little bit more after each song until you get to the band's finale. This is a must in any music collection. Christie McVie's encore "For You" has to be heard to be believed. Just sensational. This one is a 10 for me. Update Dec 2009. Saw these guys live last week with Lindsay Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Jihn McVie and of course Mick Fleetwood. What a concert!!! And 2 encores later LB was still stealing the show with his guitar solos. They were sensational to say the least. Would see them again tomorrow if they were here. A brilliant performance all round. This DVD is as close as it gets.Still a ten for me.
... View MoreI taped this when it was on TV several years ago. Since tapes don't last, I bought the DVD recently and found several songs on it that weren't aired on TV - a great bonus! This band can still rock out! None of them are young anymore, yet they still sound nearly the same. Stevies voice has gotten a little bit rougher, but still sounds like Stevie! Christine will definitely be missed from any future works from the band. She also had a very distinctive voice and was a very talented writer as well. I found it kind of interesting how much Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham looked at each other during the performance. They couldn't keep their eyes off each other. Wonder what THAT means? Probably nothing. But they covered nearly all their big songs along with some new material. The finale with the USC Marching Band is awesome! Altogether, this was a great concert!
... View MoreI've been a fan of Fleetwood Mac since I was a little tyke and heard the song "Dreams". It is such a delight to see one of the longest running bands in history that has gone through so much turmoil, to be back together again (as was the Eagles' 1994 reunion). In this DVD concert, one can tell their voices have aged, but nevertheless are bold and resounding. Stevie Nicks looks great for being 50, as does the rest of the band.New gems that are a must for Mac fans are "My Little Demon" and "Bleed to Love Her". Lindsey Buckingham demonstrates once again his talented songwriting abilities with these new numbers. The grand finale with the USC Trojan Marching Band joining in for "Tusk" and "Don't Stop" anthem the longevity of Fleetwood Mac.And as always--watch it on DVD if you can!
