A brilliant scientist is plucked out of the company lab and sent to India to sell the genetically modified rice she created which she doesn't realize will destroy the farmers she thinks she's helping. Basmati Blues is one of those films where one actor will feel embarrased that even starred in it and that actor will be Brie Larson. This film is not original, not comedic and definitely not a good musical since the singing part doesn't even sound like Larson herself and that was disappointing since actors like Jackman do their own singing. Overall a disappointing film that makes sense for the 3.9 that it got and the 0% that it received on Rotten Tomatoes. (0/10)

Clearly nothing extraordinary in the scenario, but nice and funny to watch.

Well it's entertaining,the songs is well composed brie and the other cast do it great. I love The story line.. it's quite unexpected. I enjoy this movie, to people who like musical movie i think you should probably watch it, not recommended for you who like action movies because this movie might make you boring and doesn't contain any action scenes

Expected the movie to be good considering Brie Larson is in the movie, however it's just an average movie. The movie starts with introduction of Brie Larson who's a scientist at Rice seed producing company. She visits India to promote Newly invented breed of Rice seeds by her Company. She tries to persuade farmers to sign contract of buying seeds from her company. She meets an Indian guy and falls for him. Unaware her company is trying to cheat the farmers to make money, she convinces most of the farmer to accept the contract. However the things change towards the end.A musical movie with predictable turns of romance, anger, betrayal and conscience doesn't creates a great impression. Other than costumes of the character and background music, nothing's great.
