"Ernest Goes to Splash Mountain" is a 22-minute live action short film from 1989, so this one has its 30th anniversary soon and the title already gives away that in this documentary spoof the late Jim Varney reprises his career-defining role as Ernest from Ernest Goes to Camp and there are other little add-ons out there too. I must say I have not seen the full feature film I just mentioned, but this one here does not get me curious about it either. Neither the take on comedy in terms of Ernest, but even less so, the take on comedy away from Ernest like the female interviewer constantly interrupting her guest's impressed me at all. Unsurprisingly, this is a Disney production as it massively advertises here and the thing felt basically like an overlong Disneyland commercial disguised as a publicity stunt most of the time. Of course, it is not to be taken seriously really, but there is a lot more truth in here than you'd expect when watching it with the untrained eye. So yeah I did not find it particularly funny. My suggestion is to skip it unless you watched and really liked the Camp movie.
