If you're a true horror fan then you can appreciate the attempt at being somewhat original with this film. No they don't explain much backstory on the bye bye man character, but for this movie it's obviously not what the creators wanted to focus on. Perhaps they wanted to save that for a prequel!! Yes it has some poor CHI every now and again but I've definitely seen worse. As for the pace it's pretty good and the acting isn't the worst. It's a psychological thriller that doesn't make you feel like you'll miss the entire premise if you look away for a second. I don't know why this has such a poor rating because if you have the understanding that with all horror movies there is always going to be cliches then you will appreciate the film for what it is. A thriller. I personally was thrilled and even laugh a couple times which breaks up the monotony of tension. Good job to the director and writers.

Before I get into anything I need to say that I think there was a good idea for this movie. There is the hint of a good movie trying to get out of it. But the movie we got was so inept and so bad that whatever chance it had died an early and forgotten death. In other movies where there's a supernatural kind of killer there is always a backstory. There's a reason for the killer to be so crazy. Not here. We're told of a guy that killed a bunch of people for speaking the name of this entity. That's it. That's all the backstory we get. Well, not exactly. There's a librarian who later on is only there to provide exposition. In a less clunky movie they would have found a better way to provide this to the audience. A bunch of college students move into this house because it's close to campus, it's cheap and they want to live together. They find an old nightstand and in the drawer is written over and over again the lines don't think of it, don't speak of it over and over again. Ripping that paper away we see the title carved into the drawer. It had to be because otherwise there literally would be no story. And once the name is spoken weird things start to happen and that's basically the movie from then on. It's not coherent as to what is happening, it's just stuff. The man that killed the people at the beginning is just there with no real connection to the supernatural killer. At no point is this scary or thrilling or anything other than you want these kids to die because they're so annoying. This is one of the best examples of a January movie. It came out after the holidays. It's dumped into theaters because they need to show something. It's a PG-13 movie to get all the kids to go see it. And it's just something to be avoided.

Half the positive reviews are fake, you can tell because they dont review any other movie and havent existed longer than this movie hasi didnt bother watching til the enda basic rule when making a horror movie is dont have characters make unrealistic decisions, or do things the audience wouldnt do. its frustrating to watch and doesnt honor the concept of what a horror movie is. terrible acting, terrible cgi, no plot, no character developmentan interesting concept done wrong, with an interesting cast misused except for the girlfriend, she should keep her day job, this aint working outa whole lot of issues with this movie and some of the issues start with very small things, including the dumb robe on the wall, he is a grown man, you can just take the robe off the wall and cut this issue in half.

All the rest of the aspects of the film are yawning, holes dug into land unfortunately. There is nothing new in Bye Bye Man. Nothing surprising. Nothing extreme. Nothing frightening. He does not have a stroke disregarding the impetus of the beginner scene for the film, the early disguised as the teen character a company is able to squeeze out any kind of stranger sympathy or compassion from the spectator.
