This movie is dull and unoriginal. Its boring, has bad acting, a poorly-executed plot, and weak characters. This movie is painfully average, and not worth watching.
... View MoreThe movie is good except the camera Style. Blair witch style is really awful. I think they should be remake it and film it as a movie not a mock documentary. I also didn't like the character of the Black kid, or more so his acting Style. It was as if he was reading his lines and he brought the movie down.

I understand the camera is supposed to shaky, but for one, that is not a creative decision and the idea of it does not add to the experience, and for two, it is more nauseating than it is anything else. The writing was bad. The best way to describe it would be that it seemed like a film student had made a very good seven-minute film about this, and some Hollywood glamour writer tried to stretch it out to be a a feature-length film. Finally, the acting. As a child actor myself, I have a lot of respect for child actors who are actually good at what they do. Unfortunately, as this movie proves, they are in the minority. The actors in this movie have got to be the worst actors since "The Room." A few side notes as well. The girl was added as an, "oh yeah, we should have a love interest in the film," rather than as a three- dimensional character, which is a shame, because it would've been good to see another viewpoint. The government conspiracy has got to be the most unbelievable plot in film history. Not only are the actors playing the officials world- class awful, but the entire plot is forced beyond measure and the events would not play out in this way, even is the ridiculous premise was true. Finally, the alien. Echo has got to be the worst alien ever, not because I don't like Echo, but because they shouldn't be calling him "Echo," they should be calling him "E.T," because that's what he is. He meets children on Earth. The poster for his movie features a boy's finger reaching out to touch him (yeah, the posters are the same, too). He is short-spoken. He is adorable. And oh, yes, it is supposed to be sad when Echo leaves, just like, guess who? E.T.I loved the original E.T. I am not okay with this re-boot.
... View MoreEarth to echo is a family aimed film that follows four teenagers who live in a neighbourhood which is going to be flattened to make way for a brand new free-way. Things start to go odd since the construction workers arrived, like mobile phones going crazy and electrical devices malfunctioning. The teenagers suspect that there is more to the 'so called' construction workers and go on an adventure which uncovers more than they would every imagine. So as you already know this is a found footage film. Unfortunately, like most of these films, it failed to actually give the sense of it being 'amateur'. This is mostly due to the over used shaky cam and cinema quality resolution coming from a typical HD Sony camcorder. I think the film would have been much better off if it had been shot conventionally. For the acting I think it was probably average but I think the 'average' performance may have been more to do with the cheesy script that had seemed to have been written by a 12 year old YouTube filmmaker. The story was over predictable and didn't flow. It seemed very rushed; almost like it was written at the last minute. The story felt very empty and was not even close to satisfying. You asked more questions going out of the cinema than in. Examples of this include the only female character 'Emma' (a.k.a Mannequin Girl) who just seemed to randomly enter the story and did not actually do much to make a big contribution. The SFX, though rare, were reasonably good and gave a clear picture of what was happening. The soundtrack was very good but again was very rare during the film. The kids were not characterised that well and failed to show the intentions of both the actors and the characters. In conclusion I think this film is alright for children aged from 8- 12 years old but can be quite boring at times. I think what really done good for this film was the mass marketing it received which got it into the public's attention as I think without the marketing it would have failed miserably.I rate it an okay 5 stars.
