...but "Dead Men Walking" tries awfully hard to nail down the dishonor. I'm startled to notice that male IMDbers 18 and under are the cohort with the most accurate rating of this piece of trash. Penned with all the savoir faire of a middle-schooler (and I really don't mean to demean middle-schoolers), directed with all the lifelessness of an aspiring Ed Wood, Jr., and lensed by someone who apparently specializes in direct-to-video knockoffs of infinitely better films, this sad turkey has virtually no redeeming features whatsoever. It's a dud that makes junk like "Days of Darkness" look like "Citizen Kane." Did I mention that the script sucks? It does, and the direction, production values, and acting aren't much better, once again proving that you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Indifferent acting aside, even the casting sucks, with the most egregious offenders being zombie extras who can't seem to get it out of their heads that they're not in a mosh pit, despite the obligatory death/thrash metal score whenever these drips are on camera.Sorry, dudes, this is crap with a capital "C," unfit for human consumption. Just another sad excuse for work, and unworthy of attention by anyone with a functional brain. It gets a point more than it deserves for a few moments of genuine attempts at real acting, two brief bare boobies, and an opening sequence that promised far, far, far more than this wretched excuse for cinematic entertainment ever provides.

When you see The Asylum label attached to a video, and before the credits roll, you are subjected to closeup shots of various college-age morons screaming and bleeding from the head and mouth, you know you are in for trouble. DMW reminds me of videos I used to rent from a Blockbuster that was next to a public housing project. Most of these so-called horror titles were amateur flicks shot on a shoestring budget and given the most lurid covers imaginable. Hell, the covers probably cost more than the flicks themselves. I learned my lesson after renting several such videos, the absolute worst being the infamous "Ax 'Em." I caught DMW on Chiller, which should be embarrassed to have ever shown it. Plot: A man who has killed four zombies and been infected in the process is sent to a maximum security prison, where he infects other prisoners and guards. The prison is locked down, and the rest of the story involves a handful of folks who have not been infected trying to find a way out. The movie, such as it is, is just plain awful. The zombie effects are ludicrous, and there isn't one real actor in the bunch. It also was blocked and shot by someone who has no idea how to stage a scene. Where I come from, we call this a fanboy film. Made by fanboys for fanboys. So all you fanboys out there, enjoy. Everyone else, please steer clear.

Dead Men Walking seems like an ideal title for an undead flick... OK its pretty bad actually, filmed in GREEN-O-VISION, or maybe with expired Kodachrome film. Turn your color down and it bumps it up a star. While it doesn't help the acting or all the water balloon splattering sound effects, I guess you could turn the sound down also, and overdub your own sound. Sound of Music might go well with it. This could make a pretty good undead musical.(Hey don't steal my idea.)The bottom line is, if all the annoying slow motion & vomiting don't get to you, if your reallllly bored and there's nothing but infomercials on...this will pass the time.

I admit I have a weakness for zombie films, but this one is just boring. Though the premise sounds like fun and the gore isn't that bad overall and the movie starts promising fun, most dialogs are just plain stupid even for a B movie: A character that is supposed to have done research in biological warfare or something similar and suggests treating a virus with antibiotics isn't even funny anymore. The scene where the priest gets infected is just ridiculously stupid (the only scene where I actually had something to laugh about) with characters (and not just one) doing a complete turnaround in their opinions from one sentence to another. Sadly the film lacks any kind of originality except for the prison setting and except for some extremely stupid dialogs there is no humor to be found. Overall a boring, stupid movie not worth watching.
