This is modern retake of Cinderella starring Selena Gomez and Drew Seeley. It is basically about this amazing, talented called Mary Santiago, she is also an orphan who has a pop star called Dominique as her horrible and cruel step-mother. She also two stepsisters called Bree and Brit who are not so talented as their mother thinks.Mary goes to a dance which her step-mother forbids her to go and when she goes there she dances with superstar (Joey Parker). She doesn't leave any identity of her as she wears a mask but she leaves her Zune. The two big question are: Will he find the girl of his dreams? Or be left without knowing her identity?

I found the Hilary Duff Cinderella to be unusual in that I liked it. After Lizzie M. I felt a need to look to Hilary Duff's movies and it was the one of the few that I liked. This story took a bit more work to get to the point of really liking it. It felt as if it started weak and gradually became watchable. Now I rate it. The music and dance means that I will watch it way more than the H D story. The dance really dances, for me. I got this because of Selena. Princess Protection Program may be rated as only suitable for pre-teens, but I found it okay for second childhood if I ignored the morality tale aspect. PPP helped me to ignore the Waverly Movie and start to consider Selena as a very acceptable actress. * A thread at the Message Board believes that Selena's dancing is mostly done by an actress listed in the film's credits as a dancer, an unlisted stunt double. Look at the dancers in the advert sequence, the short dancer who looks a bit like Selena. Selena as new to dancing, though the DVD extras say that she did unusually well. There are all sorts of film tricks that will be used to help the story along, I wonder if the main unlisted ingredient is the unusually high quality of the editor. Getting the dance to feel like amazing dance. Used to be I looked to the actors as the reason and now I am wondering if it was the film editor who should get the credit for creating amazing dance and whoever okayed the end credits as the one who messed up bad, I accept that the end credits content is fairly typical. * Drew Seeley as a bonus extra. I knew that he was in HSM, dub type singing the leading man's songs because of the vocal range needed. Not in HSM 2 or 3. Here he is, on screen, singing and dancing and acting. He co-wrote the songs that he sings. The director was oh so pleased that this story has 100% original material for all of the song and dance. As background material for HSM I find this to be essential viewing. Chasing interviews re the dance subtracted from that. The ugly sisters fascinate me, too. If this story was Brit it would be very different ugly sisters. These are obviously grunged down compared to how they normally look. There is a set of three horror movies that they acted in, Ginger Snaps, werewolf stuff, starting from when the youngest was just older than school age, and they show something of what these two are like away from an ugly sister role. Their looks can change when needed. Cinderella Mary's best friend is another source of fascination. The screen presence is very much a seventeen year old school kid, but just check out her age. It is not just Drew and the ugly sisters who are ancient. * So, a really nice story. But a problem for Selena and a dancer as the credits miss out on a small but significant detail, stunt double. Enough to bring the personal rating down for me, from a 9 or 10, which it would otherwise rate, to 8 or 9. To me there is cleaning that needs to be done.

Wow. Just wow. For the first five minutes of the film I thought, "Oh, okay, another cheesy Disney-like movie." Boy was I proved wrong! I've finally discovered something: there are three kinds of people in the world. First, the people (mostly preteens, really) who are absolutely obsessed with anything Disney-channel or "Disneyfied" related, and therefore are oblivious to the talent of the actors. Second are the people who always put down Disney-channel or "Disneyfied" related items simply because of this generation's obsessiveness, and therefore also are oblivious to the talent of the actors. Then there is a small minority of people who treat these movies like any other and evaluate them without any prejudice or affinity toward the Disney-channel or "Disneyfied" film franchise. And if you belong to the third group, you'll truly appreciate this film. Selena Gomez is simply divine -- she has mastered all the dancing in this movie in just three weeks! And these are no simple moves. She has added her own personal and signature style to the movie, perfecting each and every dance routine to the point of brilliancy. And Drew is likewise staggering -- not only is he smooth on the dance floor, but he stays in character perfectly throughout the entire film. It's true this movie has the same "follow your dream" formula, but this is revealed through a sumptuous blend of beautiful characters (especially the protagonists, who spark some beautiful cinematic chemistry), stunning dance sequences, dazzling songs, and unpredictable twists in the Cinderella storyline. Now I've noticed that many people have problems with regards to the age differences in the two lead actors. However, one has to keep in mind that some of the most timeless classical romances -- Jane Eyre, Memoirs of a Geisha, Emma, to name a few -- have characters who don't allow their ages to stand in the way of their love, and who try to teach that love exists without any barriers. It's also important to keep in mind that, in the actual film, the characters' ages are not supposed to be that far apart; Mary may look very young, but Selena does have a childlike face . . . but a beautiful, sweet face. I know I said I wouldn't judge according to the Disney franchise, but it's safe to say that, compared to all the other Disney Channel movies I've seen (including High School Musical, Jump in! and Camp Rock), this is the absolute best! It's passionate and endearing, and nothing short of amazing!

OK stop saying guys that this movie was predictable...its starring Selena Gomez, its called Another Cinderella Story...of course its predictable !! I mean, every movie lately that has hilary duff, lindsay lohan or any other Disney star in it IS meant to be predictable. It's all the same mold. And the thing about this one is that...its fully conscious that the movie is like every other movie that has Cinderella in the title. It's predictable and they know it ! I think thats the biggest shame in the whole thing. I mean, yeah they wanted to make Selena known...but why not try something different! not another version of a movie we al saw 1309849 times. And speaking about the age gab between the 2 main actors. Of course yeah we can see it, of course it annoyed me a little. Because omg...hes 26 :O But overall i think they are great actors cause we believe it even...that's pretty much it, its a movie i feel like i saw a thousand times. but well. Seems like these days thats the only thing we get to see.
