This show took me by surprise for the 1st season, the show was telling a lot from witches' life in modern days flashback also in the old days and triangle love between Freya the heroine with her fiancé and his brother. On the 1st season the story still focusing to find the enemy which caused the family troubles. However on this season 1 which the ending left cliff hanger for season 2 the story is rather predictable but it still practically enjoyable to watch. On season 2 everything changed to the worse, the story was becoming worse and complicated, good character like Dash Freya's ex-fiancée was slowly showing his darkness side and using his magic to his advantage. Not just that the never ending bad and boring love story between Freya- Killain was kept on dragging, funny is I don't like Freya and Killain even thought they both were possibly the kindest characters here but they also the stupidest characters throughout the show. We could see new characters appeared then the the plot was twisting in a way where me couldn't handle to watch it any longer even though I braced myself to watch the ending. So basically season 2 is not worth to watch since I am rooting for Ingrid-Dash but this 2 were showing changes from their good side and it's like it's always impossible for them to be together especially with all the problems surfaced periodically. The producers and the writer instead of showing a good show giving the audiences boring twisting plot with non-sense time consuming for each episode.Maybe most of the show's fans are angry when the show got cancel but I totally understand the reason since if it continues then the story will become much more complicated and I hate Dash turn as the bad person whereas I still blame Freya and Killain for everything happened to him. Don't blame me for rooting to more mature, secure, and handsome guy like Dash instead of useless and brainless Killain!

I have watched this show from the beginning. The writing in it, is very good. I would have to say, Jenna Tatum is a HORRIBLE actress! I am not sure how she got into the profession! The rest of the cast isn't bad, could use a little brushing up... The plot that happens in every episode,is good. I would recommend this to anyone who liked Charmed. This is as close as it gets. Just wish they would find someone else to replace Jenna Tatum! Very excited to see what happens in season 3. It's definitely worth trying out. If Jenna's acting doesn't get polished up, I probably won't be watching it anymore. Yeah it's THAT bad.... Not sure what else to write about this. It's making me put more into this then what I initially thought I would have to!

Many have called this a carbon copy of "Charmed". I don't think it is a carbon copy, more like a color Xerox. The novel is actually quite a bit different but not much better. But I am not here to review the book, just the ten episodes I managed to endure on Netflix. I don't think I will bother with viewing season two.First the dialog in this is horrible. I don't know anyone who attends a fancy engagement party and opens a conversation with blood sacrifices and satanic orgies. Most of the time the dialog has no subtext, it is flat and boring. There is so much repetition, in just the first few episodes, it gets hard to count how many times you hear someone say, "I lied." then the other person respond, "You lied to me?!". Finally exposition abounds in this series. The characters are transparent as glass. The players are a bit too bland and obvious. There is no good guys to cheer for or evil villains to taunt. Most everyone are homicidal, nut jobs, vengeful associates, or partners trying to coerce each other. This is normal fodder for any daytime soap in my opinion. Now as for similarities to "Charmed" two sisters who are not told of their true nature, suddenly find out they are magical creatures. They have evil past lives. Witches can't do just any old magic spell, they have special abilities. Sort of like "X-Men" they are portrayed more like mutants than witches. They live in a manor house similar in layout both interior and exterior right down to the color. Rules on magic are the same, spells of personal gain causes a backlash. A good criminal attorney is not only evil but immortal. I could go on but then I would have to attach a spoiler warning. In the end, "Witches of East End" is a waste of time. As I said, I only endured the first season to write out an honest review. Many series can have a poor episode or two per season and I didn't want to base this only on the pilot or a scant few. This series is awful from start to finish.

This is a good show, good story line and acting with the notable exception of Julia Ormond her accent comes and goes with such regularity as to be distracting. I have watched several episodes and thought she would get comfortable with the accent she was using but it seams whenever she get into a heated scene her accent moves to English and then what sounds like Scottish, then back to American. I still have hope that this will change as the series goes on. What is with this rule that reviews have to have at least 10 lines. The ladies are all very attractive. The plots are well thought out and work for this type of show. The brothers plot like doesn't do much for me.
